Been living on this island for 6 months now but they still scare the shit out of me.
Where I used to live there were no cockroaches and I dont think an insect is supposed to be this big....

SABuffy 05-29-2006 06:43 PM

Eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a plague of them last Summer...they are the most revolting creatures ever! Some were as big as birds (ok...maybe not quite that big :1orglaugh ) and when you squashed them they wouldn't die

I'm so glad its winter and they've gone up North!

Uhm...where is your north?
I just sprayed one in the kitchen.
I am in the sleepingroom now waiting for him to die. I can hear him breaking my boards and glasses though in his struggle for life.
:(

Jarmusch 05-29-2006 06:49 PM

iWeb_Iya 05-29-2006 06:55 PM

Netherlands. City of Rotterdam.
There is a dutch Variant of cockroaches but they are small like ants.
Not the kind of motherfuckers I am seeing over here.

SABuffy 05-29-2006 07:02 PM

During the winter they seem to disappear...not sure where they go but I figured they moved up North where the weather was warmer as they always seem to reappear in the Summer here. (its ok Pornopat...up north here is Queensland)

Forget the spray...no amount will kill 'em...find a shoe!!!

Pornopat 05-29-2006 07:03 PM

Ok not as big as this but still....

They don't go anywhere, they spend winter hiding in their warm little holes all around your house.

even if you have clean house they come in.
i often see them in the woods or in the mulch around my landscaping. they can only infest if there is a food supply, mainy water. seeing the occasional roach or roach carcass is fairly normal. but if you see a live roach in the day, inside, its a good sign you have a problem.
duke

I live next to a supermarket so that might be the reason but today when I stepped outside it also smelled like something is rotting.
I may have a dead iguana or something like that in my garden. I need to do a search when I have light tomorrow.

I recently moved to a tropical place as well. One day I went into the bathroom and this is what I saw:

I had never seen one before. I named him Pepe.

hmm...that can be a problem. I generally use my husbands size 13 shoe...it would be extremely unusual for anyone (man or cockroach) to have a bigger shoe than that! But I can certainly understand your fear:Oh crap

lol.
Well looks like the spray did his job. I just checked and saw him laying on his back. Not sure what is in the spray but I am pretty sure it has some chemicals that are illegal in most countries.
