Memorial Day... Go Kiss a Veteran!!!!

Hmmmm... Memorial Day. A holiday that was first meant to honor the men and women that served and died for our country. I have a bit of a problem with "that" concept. Why is it just a day to honor the dead, it should be as a day to honor ALL those that serve or have served.

Most just take it as a day off, and another excuse to fuck off and get drunk these days. That's not a "holiday", that's a slap in the face of veterans. Lest we forget. Celebrate and honor those that pay the price of our freedoms.

How about you take a few sales today and toss some coin to the USO.

Welcome to The USO

The USO is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform. The original intent of Congress - and enduring style of USO delivery - is to represent the American people by extending a touch of home to the military. The USO currently operates more than 120 centers worldwide, including seven mobile canteens located in the continental United States and overseas. Overseas centers are located in Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Iceland, Japan, Qatar, Korea, Afghanistan, Guam, and Kuwait. Service members and their families visit USO centers more than 5 million times each year.

I'm sitting here watching this special on the Discovery Channel. Custom bike and car builder Jesse James flew to Iraq, disregarding all the bullshit regulations and red tape to build and bond with the troops to create a wheel-standing Hum-Vee. He knew that such a trip would be danerous, he didn't care. He worked out all the details through the USO. While he was there, a shelling happened. Three dead, nine wounded. Jesse didn't just run home for safety, he kept working on the project FOR THE TROOPS. :)

The USO has been a damn good cause for 65 years. Even if it's just operating centers around the globe to give a place to stop by for a cup of coffee, or a quiet place to go for rest and relaxation, they've always been there for our troops away from home. :)
