I need hotel recommendations for Key West.

I've only been there for cruise ship stops so I'm not sure what decent hotels they have there.

Any helpful suggestions are appreciated.

Thx.

For some reason I've never once wanted to go there, even when I lived in Orlando, Florida for 10 months.

So this post is nothing but a bump. :)

Probably the Holiday Inn on Duval Street ;) Best view in the city and right in the middle of everything

Holiday Inn?

Is there anything better than that? I think I'd rather sleep in the rental car.

a bed is a bed man

Contrary to popular belief, I am not a homeless bum who has to settle for a cardboard box and some newspaper.

I'm looking for a nicer hotel.

I like and have always stay at the DoubleTree, fast free internet included.

There are only a couple nicer ones, you can check them on hotels.com

Actually I think it's pretty nice... I've only stayed on boats when I've been down there but I usually head to the roof of the Holiday Inn, there's a bar up there and telescopes etc..... It's the tallest building in Key West... There's a shitload happening, bar in the lobby, restaurant... Dude... Aside from some bed and breakfasts (which I really can't recommend anything) I think it's the nicest thing there.

Ah I just remembered... There are some nice hotels right on [or close to] Mallory Dock which is really happening every nite at sunset... I think that would be the ticket for you.
Try the Hilton

or the Hyatt

Fuck the major hotel chains...there are tons of kickass houses/bed+breakfast type places down there that are fucking sick. Call the Key West tourism/chamber of commerce. I forgot the name, but there is a local tourist place like that on the way into the keys that found our place for cheap...We had a 2 story loft room that was great with a kitchen.

Duval Crawl! Wish I was out in KW, but im heading out to toronto in July, and Amsterdam in November, hopefully. Ill get back to you when I remember my hotel accomadations in key west from last summer..

i just remembered that we had a jeep with us, so it was perfect, but if you have no vehicle, it might be better to stay at the Days Inn or Hilton or something....

oh, and note: there's not much to do in the Keys (not key west) if you do not have a boat.

Sounds like a good research topic for a travel blog.

OMG there are so many nice hotels there. I like the bed and breakfasty type places. They are all really well kept and they seem so private: http://www.keywest.com/guestinn.html

If you like the bigger hotels and want to be by the beach you can try the Hilton, this hotel and spa is lovely too http://pierhouse.com/photo04.html

DO NOT STAY AT THE RADISSON OR DAYS INN yuck yuck yuck and not good for getting downtown.

If you want to see all the fun Tanker and I had in Key West for Spring Break check www.melonjoint.com
