After we hit 113F (with the humidex)...earlier in the day - I'm already beginning to hate summer, too. :(

I think you could just be taking pictures for fun and they would still turn out to be amazing pieces of work. I envy your skills.

Both shot in Welland.

The old lift bridge just closed for 6 months while they do $3 million in repairs. Considering the bridge no longer functions - and crosses over a canal no longer used...a real good investment to repair it. :(

GuerillaTony 05-31-2006 08:18 AM

Great shots ! :thumbsup

I didn't actually attend WAE, but we drove into TO that weekend to do a photoshoot with Uno and his model Natasha.

Ya' know...some days GFY can be one of those forums that just gets under your skin at times - and I'm sure many of us occasionally stop and wonder why we even take the time to hang out here. The rampant drama, silliness and glaring hostilities often seem a bit overwhelming...even to hardcore and seasoned forum dwellers.

But these kinds of days are offset by threads like this - a thread where a lot of people take a moment to really look at a couple of photos...and then take the time and make an effort to offer comments and some very generous and kind praise.

For that - a very sincere thanks. :)

Truth be told about those two photos - it was hot as hell the other day and after spendin' a lazy day out on the back porch enjoyin' the better part of a case of 12 Molson Canadian beers and watching the world go by - I grabbed the camera, hopped on the mountain bike and rode down to the canal to cool off a little, clear a few cobwebs...and perhaps grab a few stray photos in the process.

As usual after a snootful of pints - I shot 98% crappy photos (took a total of 30 or so). But like my old man (also a photographer) is often fond of saying - "The difference between a good photographer and a bad one is just five more rolls of film.' So out of 30 pics - I ended up with two I thought were marginally good. At best they seemed mediocre, and I wasn't even going to post them to the board. But I was bored and thought what-the-hell.

And then along comes all you folks - who bestowed a lot of nice compliments on them. I was (and still am) a little baffled - since I figured the thread would find its way to page two in a matter of minutes - with maybe a comment or two at most. I certainly didn't think the pics would garner the feedback they did.

Long-wind aside - thanks again everyone. Despite the inherent nature of our industry...its pleasantly surprising to know there's still a lot of thoughtful and good people in the mix.

SilentKnight, would love to go hang out in your neck of the woods sometime and have you show me around, I've been to Niagara more times then I can remember, but I've never seen YOUR Niagara.

Bet if you check, the company that is doing the repairs is owned by someone that had something to do with issuing the repair order.
