what to do if you dont like a design?
 

Recently i have hired about 5 designers to do up promo material for me and 1 of them is pretty shitty work and i'm the type to accept pretty much anything i am given - but this is just horrid :/

i already prepaid and I am not the type to bitch

what is the proper etiquette for this type of situation ?

Just tell him that the work is not what you need and that you would like a redesign.

thats why it's always good to pre-pay half of the design cost so if things don't turn out the way you wanted them you don't send the other half of the payment and just take it as a loss and the designer still gets compensated for the work

yes ask for a redesign, if not, eat it and find another or ask one of the other 4 decent designers to pick up the slack...

For me, I saw their "final revision" and was not satisfied. I went back to the drawing board, providing a demo page of the layout I needed, and wanted that was more detail oriented than the first. I also left nothing up to them and their creativity. Everything from the colors, functionality, and even the font and size was provided.

It was a huge pain in the ass. :321GFY

But for me it was, either do this as the example. Or you do not get paid your other half, and I go elsewhere. I gave them one chance to make it right. Even though they bitched about it "not being in the contract". After they bitched, and did what I asked. I paid them the other half, plus an additional 25% for their hastle.

They were happy clams.

So while I would never use them again ever. I prefer to give atleast ONE chance for them to fix the situation. They can bitch all they want, but they have the opportunity to be professional. However, I remove all creative "input" from them, and they no longer have any choice in how they like it, think it should be done, or whatever.

iiiiiiiii... I didn't know they take money before work... I will be taking money after work and satisfied client when I run my icyspice designs :)
