Question On Banning International Traffic
I'm currently redirecting over 70,000 people a day from shitty foriegn countries and it's hammering my servers hard with all their repeat requests to see if I've come back. It seems to be taking forever for these people to get the hint and stop returning.
Anyone have experience banning worthless international traffic? How long does it take before you start seeing some real improvement? |
I prefer to monetize international traffic as opposed to blocking them. There's always a way to make money off traffic, even if its extremely little.

Monetize your foreign traffic with the dialer of CECash (free trials) and mags

I'm redirecting it all to adultfriendfinder. It seems to be making some sales. But, I'm talking about 70,000 people a day reloading the site like 3, 4 or more times a day. The good traffic is being affected.
Sometimes I have to remove the ban just to let off the load. Upgrades just get swallowed. |
Anyone? I'm already monetizing the international traffic, but my long term goal is to reduce it so the load is free for the english speaking traffic to grow.
Are there htaccess configurations anyone uses to keep their traffic mostly english speaking? Any tips or tricks? |

Yes, there is such thing as bad traffic. Especially when lot of these countries are high in fraud. And others that have no credit cards, have already been bled dry on passwordbyphone and adultfriendfinder. I've gotten all the money i'm going to get out of these people and now I want them gone. The load from these shit countries is making it impossible to operate for the good guys.
I want to grow an english only site. Long term goal here. Has anyone implemented anything for this? |
