How many of you pay EXTRA for managed hosting?

How many of you use managed hosting at your host and pay extra for it every month? How often do you use that service?

Thanks

I pay a huge premium for managed service on Rackspace. I think its $3.50/gig last I checked.

Are you kidding me? Wow, I'd feel raped paying that to be honest.

Consider how much traffic I use on that server... I'm in the redirection business... I'd be lucky to hit 100 gigs per month on that machine. But that machine cannot have any downtime. I'm paying for them to make sure it never goes down. Between the raid, tape backups and backup data center in the UK ready to kick in if it goes down, I'm making sure my PPC campaigns never go down.

Ah I see, that makes sense for that little bandwidth.

Yeah, this is definitely not a host for a TGP :)

Get a $100 / month box from anyone and then use someone like acunett.com at $50 / month for managed is how I used to do it.

No one wants to pay more for managed hosting. It's like insurance, we all hate it and think its a huge waste, until that one unfortunate event where you completely wreck your car, whether it be your fault or someone elses and you are like, well thank god at least I had insurance.

i would never let some nimrod manage my shit. i dont trust people with my stuff. at least if something goes wrong i can blame it onmyself. only thing i need from a host is remote reboot switch, and a os installed.

We've always gone with a revshare hosting option - our hosting service handles all admin, billing and website updates (and some promo/advertising) in exchange for a percentage of the revenue.

Its the best way for us to concentrate on shooting content and be free of the operational concerns.
