You will break it within 3 months just like everything else :)

Matt_WildCash 05-26-2006 07:27 AM

I've got a Dell 9100 laptop 3.4 ghz, 2 gig ram, 256meg ghx card. The thing FLYS.

Sounds like you have a year or two more advanced again, the dual core sounds sweet, does that work on all apps? or just things like Adobe Photoshop that are optimized for dual stuff like that?

drama 05-26-2006 07:29 AM

battery life must blow.

Never but an intel laptop unless you plan on having it plugged in to the wall all the time.

mOrrI 05-26-2006 07:52 AM

Only 1000 dollars???

How much did u pay for it?

Star 69 05-26-2006 10:41 AM

Overly powerful laptops are about as useful as a trap door on lifeboat.

Well, unless you need an overly powerful laptop... which many people do, including myself.

Pornwolf 05-26-2006 11:37 AM

This is one of the few boards where people need overly powerful laptops. Last night I was rendering video in vegas, I had Fireworks open working on graphics, Dreamweaver open as well inserting those graphics and Firefox open posting on the boards.

I'm not the only one doing this I'm sure.

Cash 05-26-2006 10:35 PM

I also have a Dell Inspiron 6400 duo core, excellent!

Totally agree, this business often requries powerful laptops especially if your working with video (at any time). I need a Desktop powerful machine and the laptops are now powerful enough to completely get rid of the desktops. My laptop weights like 9 pounds but I take it from home to the car to work and back. That way I have the same computer at home as I have at work its perfect and powerful enough for anything

I don't have a laptop, but I went from a P4 3ghz w/hyper threading and 1.2gb of ram to a Pentium D 3ghz/800FSB with 2 gigs Dual Channel DDR2 533 and it fucking rocks.
