but seriously - the Internet works beause 'anyone can do it' - Ajax is just too complicated.

Would the internet have happened if it was written in 'C' - of course not.

Of course anyone who can use Ajax now is going to make a killing.

erm. The internet was mostly written in 'C' (and if by internet, you mean the web... well. Most the early web apps/cgi's were also written in 'C')

So very wrong - the web was/is written in HTML - and its easy. Thats why it works.

All the early 'web apps' were written in c or cgi and parsed into early HTML.

HTML is what made the web - its ez to learn - thats why we have millions of pages - and thats why it is so important.

Deej 05-25-2006 08:24 PM

Ajax....

will it rule the world?....

php has plenty of disciples already

Who will stand triumphant in the clearing??

Ive been hearing some good stuff abotu this Ajax that you speak of

CaptainHowdy 05-25-2006 08:25 PM

I started with php because of you... should i give you a female virgin in sacrifice??

Nookster 05-25-2006 08:28 PM

damn i'm behind...just started with ajax :(

WiredGuy 05-25-2006 08:29 PM

I've been doing some basic Ajax programming and I have to say its extremely powerful. I do need to figure out some of its limitations though.

cgi, huh? :1orglaugh

4Pics 05-26-2006 01:06 AM

ajax kicks ass, we're using it for some internal things and it makes it much faster to do things.

You're an idiot.

CGI is just a gateway to execute programs. It is not a programming language.

What do you think webservers are written in? C++ for the most part unless you go with some small non-production quality webserver which is written in another language, either way, without APACHE/IIS/Zues (All C/C++) there would be nothing to serve those HTML documents you claim run the net.

fuck.. you guys are dumb. Thats not the essence of what hes trying to say..

Did you ever have to code C to get your first webpage online?
Did the zillion of sheep that have their website/homepage online (you know..
thats what made the internet popular) to code C ??

No.. stupid fucking assclowns.. you annoy me.

With ruby on rails you can do very powerful things with AJAX without ever having to write a line of javascript at all. Its already easy;)

psili 05-26-2006 06:03 AM

AJAX / ajaxian...... :(

Fuck.

You people talk about ASCII text parsing like it was something special. Just because XHR is a new fad doesn't mean you're special because you can do it. I can see it now; millions of sites misusing this functionality like the "<blink>" tag of the 90's.

Jebus, save us all!

$5 submissions 05-26-2006 06:09 AM

AJAX = hot skill set in the outsourcing biz.

flashbang 05-26-2006 06:52 AM

Ajax is not a technology in itself, but a term that refers to the use of a group of technologies together.

So all of your above together is AJAX :)

You're about as stupid as the guy who thinks that CGI is a programming language.

anyone interested in C/C++ programming BTW, drop me a line...we will do custom systems programming if you got a hard load on your server ;-)

StuartD 05-27-2006 08:12 PM

AJAX is not complicated. Getting rich just by knowing AJAX, that's complicated.

teksonline 05-27-2006 08:37 PM

I must say javascript sucks, AJAX was a great marketing created to keep it alive, but I doubt for long :)

StuartD -

Thank you.

Those who parse text can. Those who can make money parsing text can.

I however suck at both, so disregard my post. :(

mrkris 05-27-2006 08:56 PM

Ajax is nice for next-gen web-based user interfaces, but the hype is overkill.

teksonline 05-27-2006 09:02 PM

I wonder what scams will come about with the ability to use the end persons computer to manipilate data,

and will servers now be able to DOS clients? instead of clients dossing servers? sweet revenge
