Technically, any US online casino is running illegally if they take bets:

"Whoever being engaged in the business of betting or wagering knowingly uses a wire communication facility for the transmission in interstate or foreign commerce of bets or wagers or information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers on any sporting event or contest, or for the transmission of a wire communication which entitles the recipient to receive money or credit as a result of bets or wagers, or for information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both." According to the Department of Justice, the Wire Act does indeed prohibit internet gambling. But according to Professor Nelson Rose, this law only applies to those in the business of betting or wagering. As such, it does not apply to the common player; only the "house" or business will be punished."

This is why some US based casinos do not take bets from inside the US (like the one I used to work for). The trouble is the laws were written to prevent money laundering they didn't know about the internet. The laws have not caught up with technology, when and if they ever will, has been long debated in the online gambling community.

Given the numbers it is pretty clear that Americans support online gambling. We live in a Democracy and it is out governments duty to do the will of the people. If online gambling is totally banned, our government is not acting within the bounds of a Democracy and those voting for the ban deserve to be voted out of office as soon as possible for forcing their will onto the people.

this has been an issue for quite some time *sigh*

I don't know why our officials think they have to be the morality police but its just plain stupid imho. Gambling is legal in EVERY STATE of the nation ... so long as its on sovereign land!!!! Now if the powers that be would just smarten up and tax it like they do all of our other 'vises' they could probably get this country back in the black - - - wait .. what am I thinking (smarten up), like THAT would ever happen HA

Actually we live in a Democratic Republic. If we actually lived in a democracy Al Gore would have been elected President in 2000 since he got more actual votes.

Not in Alabama, they are even against lotteries. I believe Utah also doesn't have any kind of gambling.
