Your workstation(s)
Does anyone use a stand-up workspace?
I know what I'm thinking of, but I can't find any kind of a picture of it.... it's like... a desk that you stand at instead of sitting in a chair.... but I guess you could sit on a tall chair.... like a big stool... I guess kinda like a tall drafting table type thing, but built more like with a desk surface..... does any of this make any fucking sense? :eek7 I've looked at places like Office Max online and shit, but I can't find anything like it.... |
wouldnt sitting on a stool all the time start to be bad on your back?
|
Dude...why would you want to stand all day?:question

But a desktop wouldnt work too well on an art desk, kinda clashes too much since I can still do so much mroe with a pen or pencil than Photoshop, that will never change... |
you mean like a vertical LAN station???
i saw some in the SMDLP company catalouge the other day i'll see if they have a website later today, but just a warning they are very expensive |
I have that setup with two chicks in rotating shifts on there knees under monitor pleasuring me all day.
I got the setup from dell, you gotta ask for the TeaBAggers special Dell Teabaggers Special |

at least that's what I was thinking..... it sounds like a solid theory. |
Try IKEA... they have lots of modular furniture and stuff with adjustable legs.
Or perhaps what you need would be in the kitchen furniture department. |
:sleep
Workstation eh? You'll be the pride of the trailer park. |
The terminal in our server room is stand up use. Its mounted at chest level on a shelf on the open rack that also houses our switches and router. Its convienent for doing short jobs while wandering around the server room, as it saves bending over or having to sit-down and stand up repeatedly. It certainly isn't set up to use as a prolonged work space since its rather lacking in surface area.

Funny you say that AMP...I used to draw comics and shit and I did so standing up...
My first computer replaced the space on my drafting table and all i had was a drafting stool (which I never used much) I used to stand at the computer for a few hours at a time...mostly drawing on a wacom tablet. It was never the 8 to 10 hour stretch's like now, but it was substantial time. Now if I were to do it I'd recommend a tall drafting stool with arm rests for long periods of typing...that's what always killed me...It forced me to take breaks to...and when I did it felt relaxing...not like now when I sit I feel cramped and a lil tense...not like i'm taking a load off. A 10 hour stretch at a standing work station will definitely feel like a days work for sure...and unless you have a traditional lazy station to go with it I bet you spend less time at gfy... |

well -=HOAX=-, since you said you had one, you think a drafting table would work fine for what I'm looking to do?
|
Pack up your comp every morning. Take it to your local bar. You can not only work while standing at the bar, you can drink all day, too.
Not that you couldn't drink at your house, too. Hurm...this sounded a lot better in my head. |

I can see my future set up now..... big padded vinyl bar, matching stool, and my computer. What better way to get lots of work done. And one of those little fridges right under me. MMM sounds nice. I foresee some margaritas in my schedule today. Are ya with me, Fletch? hehe |
the bar is built in...... can't take it with me. :(
|
Amp, IKEA has a desk called weirdly enough "Jerker" and it is modular and can be made standing up. I think its 56 inches ....It kicks total ass, even for Ikea ;) 129 bucks, Im sure they deliver and it comes with tools buddy!
The height is perfect. Cherry hell yeah lets get margaritas baby... call me. |
heres a synth on one, although its not set up for standing, you can easily slide the table height up and adjust it all, modular is good...

Ikea has got to be the way to go. Not only do they do tall desks but also make them modular so you can build a desk/workstation to your spec.

Amp are you moving out of the US?
