people have their priorities up their asses.

RayBonga 05-25-2006 07:45 AM

Maybe the winner of American Idol should get to be president.

Now, that would be democracy.

xclusive 05-25-2006 07:56 AM

they were both rigged so the votes shouldn't matter:)

sickkittens 05-25-2006 07:57 AM

Because all of those kids who watch American Idol can vote for a president. :helpme

Pure Evil 05-25-2006 08:01 AM

because people don't actually have to get off their asses and register to vote for american idol. most people are lazy bastards

Screaming 05-25-2006 08:08 AM

thats fucking nuts..

atom 05-25-2006 08:19 AM

how do you figure? there were 122,293,332 total votes in the 2004 US election. I saw on the news this morning that there were 36,000,000 for american idol....

Phoenix 05-25-2006 08:20 AM

should probably take into account that you can vote multiple times on AI . . . it is a little more difficult to do that in a Presidential election.

E$_manager 05-25-2006 08:46 AM

the talk is useless

Dollarmansteve 05-25-2006 09:17 AM

lets state some facts and stats:

The TOTAL amounts of votes cast was 60+ million, which is more than any SINGLE presidential candidate has gotten, but about half of what the last election got in total.

I believe that the show itself has about 30 Million viewers - Lets assume that 20 million of those viewers cast votes - that means each person that voted would have cast 3 votes on average sincle multiple votes are allowed.

Also, lets assume that the number of votes per voter is negatively correlated to age, therefore a 12 year old is more likely to cast more than three votes, and that voting propensity drops as age increases - so a 30 year old (for example) is most like to only vote once.

So, assuming the bulk of the viewing audience is in the 12 - 34 age demographic and that young, teenaged girls are the most likey to vote.. I would say that perhaps as high as 40% of the people that voted were teenaged girls under the age of 18 and cast an average of 5 votes each. So, of the 60 million votes cast, 40 Million of them may have come from 12 - 17 year old girls.

So until their votes count in presidential elections - all this talk is complete crap.

But then again, 63% of all statistics are made up on the spot :winkwink:

And 10% of people don't know what percentages mean thats like 1 out of 7 people.

;)

seeric 05-25-2006 11:30 AM

well, at least when you vote on american idol, the candidate you vote for actually gets that vote.

BigCashCrew 05-25-2006 11:55 AM

Each person can vote up to 10 times. This is not 60mil unique votes.
