i watched a story on some news show a few weeks ago about this, it looks like if you're going to consider it you really need to go to an accredited specialist with an excellent reputation. they showed how tons of salons just train any random employee like a monkey, give them some bogus certification and let them go to town. it's actually pretty complicated to do it right, you need a selection of lazers which are really expensive to buy and a lot goes into identifying skin pigment, shades of hair color, etc to see how receptive you'll really be to treatment or to avoid getting permanent scarring/burns. if you go to someplace that only has one lazer they use on everyone you're probably dealing with someone who has no idea what their doing. it was serious stuff, people getting huge burns up and down their arms/legs etc.
