Anyone have a pure bread Lab?
Anyone here get a purebread lab pup? I'm wanting to get a Chocolate one and there is one at a auction going on Friday night for our local college athletic department so If figured what better way to get one and donate at the same time. I know it should have all the first shots and registered papers etc if it is purebread. Anything else I should look for?

If I were to get a dog I would go with a Lab, I don't think you will go wrong with gettin one. If you do get it post some pics:2 cents: :)

My cousin breeds the Chocolate Labs. They just got rid of a litter and have another litter on the way. Let me know how your search goes, I could probably get you on his waiting list for this litter still if you wanted.

I have one... checks its hips. Seriously, my vet says it is very common for a lab to have bad hips, moreso if it came from a puppy mill.

Make sure it comes from a reputable breeder. Even if you win it at an auction, you should be able to arrange to visit the breeder's house to see how the pup was raised and meet at least one of its parents. They should also ask you interesting questions to make sure you would make a good parent/owner for the dog.
And don't fall for the "we didn't bother to register it, but it really is a purebred." |

Hopefully you are researching the breed a bit to make sure the type of dog fits your lifestyle. So many dogs end up at shelters because owners don't know what they are getting into.
I made the mistake of not researching Siberian Huskies before getting two. The first one was great. The second one is more typical Husky - fence jumping, a bit mouthy and just a more difficult personality. They are both now well trained and very good dogs. You really can't go wrong with a lab though. They are great dogs. |
