Serious question for the guys: Groin pain

I'm getting a bit of not constant, but slight annoyance while I'm sitting at my desk (usually leaning forward due to editing video, etc) or just to make sure my eyes aren't playing tricks on me, or when I'm in the car if I lean forward too much, etc. I'm a big guy, 6', 275 lbs, and the chair I sit in doesn't really accommodate the positions my legs like to fall into while I'm working, so my question is, has anyone else experienced this and found it to be due to being stuck in their chair for 10+ hours/day? I'm not one to go to the doc, but I might if it keeps up. Been like this since I started working at home 24/7.

Regards,

JM

check your testicles - probably isn't related but should check for lumps.

jerzeemedia 05-24-2006 09:56 AM

Mutt,

Yeah, doc already said what was there was fine when I went about 6+ months ago or so. Said it was just the "cord" twisting or some crap. Nothing inside of that area hurts, just around the groin.

You're gay. That's the #1 symptom of homosexuality....lol

It's probably just how you're sitting and being that way for long periods of time. Try switching up your seating position. I like to sit on my leg when I'm working and that's made for some weird things. Like literal dents in my thigh muscles from being pressed against the arm of the chair for hours at a time. I suggest getting up and walking around for a few minutes every hour.

Sounds like your body is telling you something JM.

Got to be worth boring the skull out of a Doc and getting possibilities checked out. Could be "anything" - a possible candidate is kidney stones?

jerzeemedia 05-24-2006 10:04 AM

Sperm,

My boyfriend says you're wrong, I'm NOT gay! Webby, I think you're right and it's time to bite the bullet and go. I think my biggest issue with going is fear of finding something which is redundant because it's better to find it earlier than later. 90% of the reason is I don't want to lose that time where I could be working, which yeah, I'll agree is kind of stupid because you can't work if you're in the hosp or dead.

Libertine 05-24-2006 10:07 AM

Could be a hernia.

jerzeemedia 05-24-2006 10:09 AM

punk,

That's my biggest fear aside from the C word. Lots of it runs in my family, so everything that aches I think of that immediately. Yeah, I'm paranoid.

JM, a question...

Do you drink a lot of coffee? I had similar symptoms to what you've described, last year. I figured it had something to do with the kidneys and the bladder etc, so I cut back on the coffee and started drinking a lot more water, and after a few weeks that feeling down there subsided.

But like others have said, go see your doctor, just to be safe.

Damn... you are same as me in not wanting to waste the time seeing a Doc:1orglaugh

Some folks seem to get clues that they have, eg kidney stones, others don't. I had the latter and got to be the most painful shit when it did hit - but the morphine was excellent in the hospital :pimp All this stuff is usually easily cured once it's established what the problem is. Sounds like an appointment with a Doc JM! :thumbsup

You just hit the nail on the head CDS - sitting at a screen all day and consuming coffee can be a problem! :thumbsup

jerzeemedia 05-24-2006 10:16 AM

CDSmith,

I drink coffee every day, large. Sometimes I'll have two larges in a day. I drink a *lot* of diet soda also. Hardly ever any water at all. Webby, yerp. I think I'm going to first try CDSmith's recommendation only because water is necessary to keep your body clean, and so forth. Since I started working for myself, I haven't touched a drop of water. A straight year of nothing but caffeinated beverages and booze here and there is probably the reason this is going on now. Let's hope. Appreciate all the feedback, you guys are great.

jerzeemedia 05-24-2006 10:16 AM

Heh, some months ago I had to carry a wash machine over my head, so that could have had some play in groin pain, but the pain was there before that too. Wasn't a tiny machine in the least bit.

Lycanthrope 05-24-2006 10:22 AM

Go to the doc man, not to scare you, but I had those exact pains 2 weeks before I woke up w/ my left calf swollen to twice its normal size. It could be anything, it could be nothing, but in my case it was blood clots, and they are nothing to fuck around with.

jerzeemedia 05-24-2006 10:48 AM

lycan, ouch! hope you're doing well now. Thanks for the insight, definitely food for thought. :(

Seriously. You should have a doctor check for stones. Trust me you dont want to wait until its ready to pass if you do have them.

Good Luck...

CDSmith 05-24-2006 11:05 AM

Glad I could help.

But go see your doc anyway, just for the helluvit. :D

jerzeemedia 05-24-2006 11:06 AM

Thanks bastard.

Syl 05-24-2006 11:44 AM

Yikes. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious JM.
