Concerned about Affiliate Fraud
Okay guys, I need help with this one!
I'm in the process of preparing a new website and corresponding affiliate program, but some recent conversations have me concerned... According to my sources, most terms and conditions of affiliate programs state that certain countries are banned, and that this problem arose from affiliates creating member accounts. They would make purchases as the member, be paid as the affiliate ? and then they would chargeback their member purchase. This of course leaves the site out the 20% paid to them. If this is the case, wouldn't it make more sense to ban some countries from making purchases in the first place? Actually, I would think it makes no sense to even allow those countries to view the site ? but that is another issue. Can somebody give me some advice on how to protect against this type of fraud?? Or how to determine what countries should not have access? I need :helpme !! Thanks! - Mish |
Just check other sites and see what countries are banned, not sure if someone has a list but there are some obvious ones, like Nigeria and even China.
Then just ban IPs from those countries and keep your eyes open for any suspicious activity. |
