Phone surveys - how do you deal with them?
 

I just got cold-called... the girl told me I had participated in some survey a year ago (which I had not) and wanted to reward me with a free magazine... no subscription! (or course not)... I had a chat for about 3 minutes, then told her that the doorbell rang... now she's still on the phone waiting for me :winkwink:

How do you deal with these guys?

say "can you hold on one minute' put the phone down and go do whatever, half hour or so later, hang it up

Many of them are for marketing research. They wont take data from another marketer, so tell them you are in marketing and advertising yourself. Normally they remove you from their list.

I ask them for their home phone number, and just keep asking them until they hang up, i sent them around the bend

i hang up. flatly, rudely, and without flinching. i don't waste one second of MY LIFE for the sake of those people.

say no thanks and hang up.

I get so many junk calls... if I don't recognize the number on Caller ID I let the answering machine catch it.

i actually tell them im conducting a survey myself and do whats been mentionmed before and tie up the phone line and play loud music :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I just play some LOUD music for them...

I just put them on hold, play some music for them and after 10 minutes I hang up and they are gone and won't call again. Cool thing is... if I don't hang up they can't call anyone else before I hang up. They don't wanna try that again.

they don't do that much around here, we have the most expensive telekoms in the world, it's a mixed blessing ;)

if its a chick , i usally say , i have a survey also , do you mind doing it for me
then i pipe up with

do ya fuck on first dates, does ya dad own a brewery, can i feel ya tits or will your show em to me , do ya give head very often


if its a bloke i just tell em to fuck off

Sometimes I tell them I am busy. Other times I may be bored and I give them fucked up answers. Then occassionally I just take them honestly.

put the phone next to your computer speakers and turn on a porn clip.

I remember just enough Spanish from high school, that I can spout out a couple of lines - although I have no idea what I am saying. I do it very quickly and make it sound like a question. Then I repeat it, sounding like I am getting angry. They never call back.

i have a sales background and so i know how much cold calling sucks, so instead of being mean i just say no thank you and hang up...
