but AMD is a bit cheaper.. so if AMD can do the work as good as Intel for those apps, i want to buy AMD..

I have a Pentium D 3ghz (930). Never used and AMD CPU so I will have to say Intel

Any time I build a computer I use AMD.

My laptop is a Toshiba with an Intel, though. One of the mobile chips; the Pentium M, I believe.

If you go Intel I'd probably avoid the Celeron, other than that I'd look at other factors, like price. Just get plenty of ram, or install enough after you buy the computer. I've generally been ok with 768 mb of memory, although I'm rockin' 1.5 gigs now.

The stuff you mentioned you'd be using it for isn't super cpu-intensive, so I doubt you're going to notice a difference.

Intel for sure

Martin3 05-22-2006 09:15 AM

AMD :thumbsup

Got a Barton 2500 that's been overclocked at 2.4Ghz for over 3 years, runs pretty much 24/7 and has never missed a beat :)

I'll be building a AMD 64 system next month probably.

thricer 05-22-2006 09:17 AM

I'm with Intel....

Decadawn 05-22-2006 09:22 AM

AMD best bang for the buck

Cash 05-22-2006 01:20 PM

Intel Core Duo!

woj 05-22-2006 01:24 PM

There isn't much difference now a days, I own an AMD but that's pretty much just because it happen to be slightly cheaper than comparable Intel setup...

I just ordered a new pc about a hour ago though and it is a P4 3ghz with Hyper-Threading Technology

so ask me in a week if i still like AMD over P4's. The 2nd pc will be used at the same time as the other one to make my laptop just a non office machine and for travel

Gouge 05-22-2006 01:49 PM

AMD

Thread over!

Antonio 05-22-2006 02:06 PM

my PCs are half/half, the same difference
