My Europe vacation was FUCKED by Continental Airline BITCH

I had tickets for a 10 day vacation to Europe, May 19-29 -- and I made it as far as Houston. While boarding the plane to Amsterdam, the gate BITCH decided that my passport was invalid so I was not allowed to board the plane.

Vacation over.

She said a "new rule" this year makes any damaged passport invalid. My passport went thru the washing machine two years ago. The back cover seperated from the back page. Now, I've left the country probably 15 times with it, including 5 times so far this year, with no problems. And I showed my passport to the ticket agent in Phoenix, who didn't say anything about it and happily sent me on my way to Houston.

So now, I'm back in Phoenix. hahahahainental went ahead and sent my luggage to Amsterdam for a nice vacation. They also refuse to credit me with the "used" portion of my ticket (from phoenix to houston and back).

So now if I want to still go I have to rebook the tickets and get a brand new passport! But shouldn't the people in PHX have stopped me first?

I got so pissed off at the airport in Houston they threatened to have me arrested.

FUCK CONTINENTAL AIRLINES!!!!

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 05-21-2006 09:22 PM

thats fucked up. Was there anyone else there you could have spoken to

pornguy 05-21-2006 09:24 PM

Fly Delta. Not problems with them.

Rick Latona 05-21-2006 09:24 PM

Holy crap that sucks.

sacX 05-21-2006 09:24 PM

that sucks.. I used to have a passport like that but I never had problems *leaving* a country with it. Sometimes I'd get suspicious looks entering countries and told to get a new passport :).

edit: odd that an airline representative can do shit like that, surely it's up to the border agents.

CuriousToyBoy 05-21-2006 09:24 PM

That just sucks Steve.

Makes my dramas of coming home last week seem silly in comparison.

:-(

Fizzgig 05-21-2006 09:24 PM

Customs and immigration people always seem to be on a power trip.

Jake 05-21-2006 09:27 PM

Are we gonna see you on an upcoming edition of the TLC show, I think it's called "Airport" or something like that?

2HousePlague 05-21-2006 09:29 PM

It's ridiculous they just the change rules at will and expect you to know.

Sucks man, your whole vacation ruined all because of that one fucking bitch that decided to have a little power trip. I hate people like that.

The Ghost 05-21-2006 09:34 PM

That's fucked up on so many levels. It reminds me of when I was flying to Asia and I had a short stopover in Japan.

When I was checking in at Japan the girl behind the desk asked in broken English 'Visa', 'Visa'. I thought she wanted to charge me for something when I realized she was pointing at my passport. I explained to her that I was not staying in Japan. She wanted to check in my passport to see if I had a visa to travel to the NEXT country. Seems that since my ticket was one way she believed I needed a Visa to head to the next destination, when I had no problems leaving the U.S and this was only a layover to switch planes.(the country I was going to was 30 day Visa on arrival anyways).

Somehow this little whore felt she was responsible for people entering into different countries and said I couldn't continue my journey without a Visa. I was lucky that I had one anyways, even though it wasn't required (I had made the same trip numerous times before).

I asked this bitch what would have happened if I didn't have the Visa, and she just starred blankly at me and kept repeating 'cannot go' 'cannot go.' I felt lucky that I had the Visa, and was pissed that someone could arbitrarily fuck up a long planned trip on a whim and without knowing the facts. I have been through there since without issue and have not been asked for a Visa since.

Jman 05-21-2006 09:34 PM

That's fuckin ridiculous ;-)

They gave me $20 worth of "snack coupons" --- which i used to buy 5 drinks, so I could get drunk enough not to want to tear the airport apart.

Screaming 05-21-2006 09:53 PM

Rochard 05-21-2006 10:00 PM

DaddyHalbucks 05-21-2006 10:17 PM

Paul Markham 05-21-2006 10:32 PM

Not 100% positive on this but pretty sure.

When you fly to America, from Europe, before you get on the plane to America they check everythiong to make sure you don't get turned around by Immigration. Thus saving you a wasted flight and freeing up a seat. This might of been the case here.

Flying from Pheonix they should of been tighter, but the way the US airlines work that needs more and better trained people, which leads to higher priced tickets.

However two years with a washed out passport is not a wise move.

You don't even dress like a wigger! I'd have called that woman every name in the book and prolly been cuffed. Don't fuck with a man's vacation. :disgust

Marie 05-22-2006 12:21 AM

Damn Steve that sucks, I was looking forward to having drinks with you here in Ams.

BTW: I don't know what they thought when they said "aren't you glad WE stopped you before you got to AMSTERDAM" but we would prolly have let you in.

Airline (and in the same breath customs, immigration) personnel are sad people.

Trax 05-22-2006 12:45 AM

i only fly continental because they got a cheap business/first
never had problem
sorry to hear about the problems
i thought only entering the US is problematic lol

BrettJ 05-22-2006 12:46 AM

That's awful.

Aumming a 2-3 day cancellation required by the various hotels. plus having to find another time where you can get away for that much time. it could end up costing you quite a bit.

Passports are an interesting thing. They are considered the be all and end all of identification - however they last for 10 years. A person's appearance gradually can change soo much over a 10 year period let alone radical/ elective things such as tanning, hair dying, glasses and weight variation.

Maybe 30 years ago - having a passport be valid for 10 years made sense - but with as much as some people travel and if you used it as your primary indentifcation for any period of time - it seems a little insane to think that they should last that long.

AND why not mention that when booking airfare - a reminder that some countries won't let you travel to them if your passport is going to expire with in 6 months. That they might deny you if you don't look llike your current picture. Or they might deny you if the passport is badly damaged.

kapai 05-22-2006 01:09 AM

Any particular reason for going to Amsterdam Steve? Picking someone up perhaps?

ozmatt 05-22-2006 01:43 AM

damn, hard times.. sorry to hear steve. Are you going to have another shot at a vacation soon once you get a new passport?

DatingGold 05-22-2006 02:02 AM

Keep things in perspective. Things could be worse.

justsexxx 05-22-2006 02:12 AM

That sucks :( Here at the airport, you can get a replacement (travel)passport within 30 minutes. (The Netherlands that is)

This won't help you, I know. But the weather sucks now anyway :) Lots of rain and wind

Big John 05-22-2006 02:37 AM

The stupid thing is that the VAST majority of the rest of the world hasn't the hardon at immigration that the US has. Your passport would have been fine at anywhere in Europe. Worst case scenario is they would have checked it just a little more thoroughly on arrival.

The stupid bitch is simply presuming that the rest of the world has the over-zealous security that the US now has (can't argue that security needed beefing up but it really has been taken too far the other way in the USA). Nothing worse than ignorant employees on power trips.

reynold 05-22-2006 03:44 AM

I'm sorry to hear about that dude, and it really sucks.

RayBonga 05-22-2006 04:01 AM

You should sue

baddog 05-22-2006 04:06 AM

I did not know that the proud bird with the brass ass was still in business

DutchTeenCash 05-22-2006 04:17 AM

sucks but unfortunately what Paul said is true, theyll reject you here when its ripped, even me flying to London will have to have a 200% ok pass otherwise its a no go...

V_RocKs 05-22-2006 04:52 AM

If you looked like a terrorist fuck I could imagine she would stop you... But you look like a rich fuck and she should have seen that and let you go.

With the price of gas and the airlines all going back into bankruptsy, I think you should shelve your anger and in three years buy the fucking airline or just a large chunk of its stock (when I say I large I mean in respect to everyone else who owns large chunks of its stock), like 5% and then fire the whore.

Matt-RevShare 05-22-2006 04:57 AM

That's fucking ridiculous

Matt

BVF 05-22-2006 05:02 AM

You should have asked to talk to TSA...A couple months ago when I was in New York, I lost my wallet, along with my ID...I called the airline to see if I could still get on the plane without id and they gave me the number to TSA where they explained since It was a return flight, they would put me through some extra screening and that's it.

It's TSA, not the airline, which decides if an ID is valid or not. And since you had already been on one flight, obviously your ID was valid enough for Phoenix and it should have been valid enough for TSA to let you through.

I would not have left that airport without talking to TSA. Fuck yapping with the airline bitch.

OG LennyT 05-22-2006 05:33 AM

She probably lost at a LS tryout a few years back and it was her opportunity for payback
