I love optimisim. I'm all for it. The smoke is persistent (reliable), whereas rainbows are fleeting (yes, admit it -- :) -- they are). You also have the luxury of walking up to the stack for a lungful of death, just to make sure it's really there.

In Berkeley, I took about 500 pictures from the same window, over the course of 3 years.

Thanks. Great pics, and the story that goes with them connects all of the pictures.

So many people see nothing. They go through life not noticing rain drops, the angles of buildings, sunsets, and wonderful views.
