Just a quicky.... VBulletin over PHPBB - Why?

I was just about to install PHPbb and was wondering if I should pay for VBulletin instead...... I know VBul can handle large sites (GFY for example) but I see a few PHPbb site that are abut the same size.

Why should I fork out for VB?

What are the pros and cons?

Interesting trivia - They are about 60 times bigger than GFY according to the big-boards stats.

But have a similar Alexa rank (2,033 and 2,518) - how many surfers do we get on here!? :pimp

I personally like PhpBB, it works great. I've seen too many Vbulletin which seems to constantly exhibits that nasty database error once in a while. Seen that on over 5 different sites at least a few times a month.

i think that webmasters would have a higher percentage of the alexa toolbar installed then surfers.. could be wrong but that would account for the alexa ranking :)

phpBB is nice, it's a security nightmare though.
The code is not very good. :(

They're saying they'll fix that for the next version though.
