would you like to live in the Caribbean?
I've been thinking of buying a lot in one of the islands, build a house and move there.
What do you think, wouldn't that be cool? Anyone else interested in doing something like that? May be we can make a small webmasters community somewhere in an island. |

the island life isnt all that its cracked up to be. can get pretty boring im guessing. the ocean and nice views can only last so long before its boring |
I agree. I need to live in a large, modern city.
|
Hopefully and god willing I'll be ready in about another 3 yrs. I've already bought a house a in Dominican Republic and I'm ready to move!!! Just need to secure some extra funds before doing so.

Say hello to hurricanes and days without electricity!
|
Maybe not the carabbean, but any exotic place would be cool :)
|
Get a place to live part time, and see if you like it.

My first plans were the far-east, south of europe or caribbean.. the more I thought about it, the less appealing it seemed. I think places like that are GREAT for vacations or even slightly longer periods of time, but I really wouldn't want to move to live in a 3rd world country. It seems that the souther you go, the crappier the places are. lol. I'd rather pay a bit more taxes and endure some winter months that be scared of poisonous snakes, hurricanes, kidnappings and tropical diseases. :) But that's just me. |
Actually, I have a place in Mexico, and I just bought a lot South of Rosarito Beach, in Baja (Mexico too). So I know what it's like. I've lived in the Caribbean before and I'm not scared of hurricanes at all. I could say that I like them. There's something amazing about seeing nature unleashed.
Being without electricity for a few days is like camping :) Seriously, I've been there and I love it. Of course, Pimpdog is right, I need something else to do, so I would need to find a place with internet access so that I won't get bored. I'm hoping to be able to do this in about 2 to 4 years. |
If I was moving to an island, it wouldn't be to move closer to webmasters ;)
|
I'm pondering a move to the caribbean coast of Costa Rica in the next couple of months if that counts :)

I agree, I went for a week and by day 5 I was sooo bored. While its a gorgeous place to live, you lose a lot of the luxuries you have back home. WG |
The poverty of the natives is a downer, corrupt governments, hurricanes.
Southern Europe gives you sun, culture and stability. |
I'd rather move to some place like Brazil.
|
I don't know about the Caribbean, but a webmaster community sure would make it harder to prove run of the mill adult stuff obscene by community standards.

Chillin the Most |
Not really..just like to visit

pimpdog is right, most of carribean islands have limited things you can do. No doubt great places to spend a couple of days, weeks, even or months but perm. staying? I would pass for now.

Living on an island in the Caribbean.
Hmm interesting concept..... <---------- :) |

Puerto Viejo is easily my favorite beach town in the country, I go all the time... |
I wouldn't want to live with webmasters but yea I would like to live somewhere hot like that its raining here I am depressed
|
I'm moving to Costa Rica in 3 weeks, come live with me :)
|
nice for a vacation but to work 24/7 meh... if you can afford being in Barbedos or so and also living in the US for a few months, combine stuff then sure
|
No Thanks! I already live in a subtropical climate. Am 10 minutes from the beach and a couple of hours from the mountains. Have warm to scorching hot weather for the best parts of 9 months and the remaining 3 months never gets cold enough to force me to wear anything warmer than a t-shirt. Cheap food, cheap drink and cheap dope. Get to see all sorts of wildlife after just a short drive. Get to interact with cultures that have been around for tens of thousands of years. Add to this high speed internet connection, reasonably reliable banking and better than average utility services. Most of the perks of a major city without hassle of living a crowded dirty city. Next to no polution. Access to internation travel a short hop away. And an exchange rate of 6-1 on the dollar and 7-1 on the Euro. Even a bad month pays our bills, feeds us, gets us wasted at our leisure and allows us to enjoy all the entertainments we desire.

yeah I would!

The caribbean and tropical locales bores the shit out of me after a week. The closest I would come to moving to one is Miami. All of the nice weather, none of the boredom.
|
Oh come on, guys! Wouldn't you love to own a nice tropical home with hammocks (how on Earth do you spell that word?), go fishing, clean your own fish and eat it? go swimming in the mornings, then come home and take care of your garden (an actual vegetable garden, with veggies so tasty that it's great to eat them), then read a nice book, surf the net, chat on GFY, and then at night go visit your friends or go to a restaurant? I'm not talking about a deserted island. I'm talking a small island with other people, a few restaurants, may be a bar or so...

That is probably the major reason for moving out of Hurricane Alley, but otherwise the Caribbean is a very nice place for lifestyle - and still got a base there. Know what you mean tho... there are a number of very good restaurants on the islands (Egon Ronay Guide standard) and plenty bars open for long hours :pimp I like the islands - a lot! |

Czarina is already here tho - sounds like your luck just ran out :winkwink: |

There was one hurricane that hovered over.. one of the Virgin Isles for about 3-4 days. That ripped every boat to shreds and caused extensive damage to construction, but little, if any, casualties. |
yes..:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup
|
fuck a webmaster community, i just want sun & hoes..... thats my goddamn goal.
|
not live actually but how about some rest house there....
|

|
I have a nice block on the water in Fiji.
