purchasing domain names
 

Has anyone here purchased a domain name from a private party? Good and bad stories would be appreciated. Did you use an escrow service like escrow.com or greatdomains.com, or use a lawyer, or just keep it private?

I only buy domains from companies that are registered at ICANN :thumbsup

I have bought domains, and all I did was fill out a purchase order pay and got my domain.

So I did ok, it was easy and painless for me!

Depends on the cost of the domain & who you're buying from.

Escrow services aren't worth it for a $100 domain, generally. If you're paying $25k to a company you don't know, then I would definitely use Escrow.com.

We've done five figure domain deals with companies we know without any escrow or anything. On the other hand, we've used Escrow.com on domain under 1k too.

Use your judgement. :)
