I'm thinking of making a "a trojan/toolbar stole my sale" detection script

It will work like this :

1. The script will log the IP of every user leaving your site (gallery etc.) along with a timestamp

2. The paysite need to place an invisible img-tag in their members area. This tag will log all the IPs that logs into the members area along with a timestamp

3. The script will then compare those logs.. and if an IP are sent off your site and seen inside the members area within let's say 3 hours and you aren't credited.. the sale is probably stolen (or shaved)

I am aware of that isn't very easy to get the sponsors to do number two .. but some will, and it could turn out to give us all some valuable information

How does this sound? Anyone interested? The script will ofcourse be 100% free. All I ask in return is to post the results in this thread

I don't know any sponsor who would let you do that, why would they want you to know the amount of joins they do daily.

neat idea though

you need to consider some things like dynamic vs static IPs, some % of members never log for whatever reason

Yeah, as said, it is difficult to "get it work" .. the best thing would be for someone who knows the site owner

Yeah, there are defintly parameters that can blur result some .. but we actually tried this with partyhardcore.com a couple of years ago when we were affiliates only .. and the results were almost 100% correct
