Domain Appraisal Formula
Inspired by Leapfish tool.. how would you develop an automated formula for guessing the value of a domain?
An example of Leapfish results.. Quote:
A good start on a formula should be based on Link Popularity, Dictionary, Overture/Wordtracker, Alexa Traffic Rank, Length, TLD, Trigger words in the name, negative characters/words (hyphens, numbers, repeating characters), age of domain, number of names registered containing the best word in the name, are other TLD versions registered, ccTLD versions?... Any other good measurement methods that can be implemented? |
there is no "real" way, everyone has their own opinions on what a domain name is worth
|
Well first I think you, KRL & Evan would know best.
But I would throw in: Character length, Google Popularity Index, Google PR, Google/DMOZ Directory, Yahoo Directory, Wayback/archive listed. And link popularity derived from: #Alexa links, #Yahoo Links, #Altavista Links, #MSN Links, #Lycos Links, #Inktomi Links, #AllTheWeb Links, #Google Links |
The amount of money produced by the domain/site is most important, as well is quantity of type-in traffic -- also, what is GFY.com worth compared to GoFuckYourself.com?
As a business, GFY would most likely be sold based on a multiplier of annual revenue. :2 cents: |
you'd also need to break it down into its component words and run them against a cpc estimator like the Google Adwords API.
