Any one looking forward to it?

We've been running a licensed version on one of our systems for a while. Personally, I don't think it's that great but it does have potential.

Because you are using a BETA an early beta at that

sweetgirl2006 05-18-2006 10:07 AM

it has the potential but i wouldn't use it but maybe later on who knows.

teg0 05-18-2006 10:07 AM

Its eye candy, but so far its not to the point where I'd like to use it. Drivers are pretty buggy so far. Maybe 6 months after its in stores... then I'll use it.

Actually, we have a developers license with MS so we have a slightly different version than all of the public BETA releases, but yes I know what you mean (that's why I said it has potential). The full (release) version with all of the polished bells and whistles will be quite impressive but, unfortunately for some, will require a powerful machine to take advantage of it's true potential.

IWantU_Jeff 05-18-2006 10:22 AM

I havent seen any of the beta yet, but reading on it the potential is pretty damn good.

Validus 05-18-2006 10:24 AM

I just don't see the big advantage... WinXP does a great job!

AdultInsider Cloner 05-18-2006 10:38 AM

maybe it will be good in 8 years when all the bugs are fixed

loverboy 05-18-2006 10:39 AM

Sorry, I should have stated it differently, by "public release" I was referring to this one:

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/n...taBeta1FS.mspx

Tom_PM 05-18-2006 10:51 AM

I look forward to reading about it, and hearing peoples reviews once it's out.

Except that by 2010 MS will no longer offer support for XP. I'm sure there are people that were happy with Windows 95. Good luck trying to use a computer with that on it now.

KRL 05-18-2006 10:57 AM

What do people need that XP doesn't already do and have?

Just another gimmick to get money out of all the users wallets.

Cyrano 05-18-2006 11:10 AM

Vista's going to be terrible. Have you read anything about Microsoft's overthetop implementation of DRM technology?

They have to come out with something new every few years you know.

LittleSassy 05-18-2006 12:53 PM

looks pretty neat although i'd prefer it bug-free:)
maybe after a few years, i'll try that

split_joel 05-18-2006 12:57 PM

I am in no way a microsoft fan, but my aunt does work for microsoft directly under Bill Gates, and according to here Windows Vista is supposed to turn heads, hence why its been in production longer then any other windows OS ever. Alot of the bugs are supposed to be fixed ahead atime, and its supposed to run better all around. We will see. I hope its good.

With the keyword being "supposed to fixed".

All in all, Microsoft puts out more buggy software than any other company I've bought from.

More Booze 05-18-2006 01:32 PM

too much eye candy. gimme something fast that works and I'll be happy.

tgpmakers 05-18-2006 02:03 PM

madawgz 05-18-2006 08:33 PM

tony286 05-18-2006 08:37 PM

Yeah I'm sure the average ignorant computer user that buy his computer at Wal-Mart can use that. Ask most computer users what thier OS is and you'll get a deer in headlights looks.

reynold 05-19-2006 03:38 AM

Vista looks good but still I am enjoying XP and I don't have any problem with it.

Doctor Dre 05-19-2006 03:42 AM

Since the SP2 upgrade XP suits my need right now. I'l wait till Vista SP2 to upgrade most likely.

SGS 05-19-2006 03:46 AM

Im actually looking forward to it. A huge number of customers will be using it at some point so will be good to see what benefits or potential problems it brings.

pstation 05-19-2006 03:48 AM

I'll probably get it once it comes out, simply because i like being at the bleeding edge of technology heh

mOrrI 05-19-2006 03:55 AM

yeah :D i will try ti when it comes out :D

justsexxx 05-19-2006 04:00 AM

I'm curious what is 'better' in Vista then in XP SP2. I mean, I can surf, I can do my video editing, I can email etc.(all without blue screens, very stable actually) What else do I need from an OS?

Of course new computers will get Vista, and in 2010 no more support for XP, but I don't see the use of upgrading.

Andre

RogerV7 05-19-2006 04:03 AM

it looks great but we will have to see if the preformance is that much better.

How powerful and what are the true potential you will be missing out on, if the machine is from way back when...

Vista is supposed to be built arround security unlike other microsoft systems so far. They get the thing out and they patch it. This is supposed to be built from scratch arround security.

I can understand the need of security for bigger compagnies running large scale networks, but for a home computer, personally it dosen't really matter for me. I don't feel vulnerable.

garce 05-19-2006 04:19 AM

I have no problems with XP. I'll probably use Vista when I buy a machine that it comes pre-installed on, but I hope its not another ME.

I had a few computers with Win98 on them, then I bought my kids a new comp for Xmas (2001 maybe?) that came with WinME. Horrid. Didn't get another comp till XP was released, and I couldn't stand XP until service pack 2 was made available. And THAT upgrade fucked my machine until I reformatted and re-installed.

Fuck Microsoft. I'm drunk.

Altwebdesign 05-19-2006 06:23 AM

I like XP im on a penitum M, although just 256mb ram (upgrading to a gig in a week)
id prefer shut downa nd start up to be a little faster
