moviepass and cross sales discussion

what is the difference between the 2?

lets forget one is a downloaded installed program.

the bottom line here is the fact that peoplea re toolazy to read the small print or the t&c's

with that said.. lets take visa for example.. you know all that fine print when you get a credit card from a company? the shit that tells you you will get billed annually for x amount of dollars? or a service fee monthly that you never knew about?

same fucking issue. where are those threads?

the cross sales.. same thing

this movie pas thing.. same thing.

there is NO diference between these.. I can go on and on about programs and subscription type of billing models that do the same fuckign thing.

where are the people bitching about sms chat paying 1.99 per text messege. you think all those users know about that 1.99 right off the bat per msg? i bet they find out when they get their cell phone bill.

movie pass has done nothing wrong. they CLEARLY state in thier legal terms and conditions what WILL happen if something isnt done within 3 days. its in black and white and yes, fine print.

its a billing tactic used by the biggest and most well known businesses on and off the net today.

I support them.

:thumbsup moviepass. keep sending those phat checks ( and a bonus would be nice )

haha

long live free enterprise.

fuck you whiny little twata that dont have any balls to support the freedom todo business with anyone you please.

nothing illegal or shady about anything if its made clear to the end user whats going to happen.

fine fine we will tone it now
make it so we have to cut YOU a check for every sale we make promoting your sites :1orglaugh

BlackCrayon 05-18-2006 07:29 AM

dialers were clear about what was being charged as well, same thing happened, no one bothered to read. people got phone bills for 1000's of dollars. ftc steps in, no more dialer minutes from the US anymore. whats the difference? it was clearly stated in the TOS, yet still busted.

my point was that just because something is clearly stated in TOS doesn't make it ok to do anything to surfers.

wtf are they doing thats so fucking wrong?

what is the difference between downloading software to access porn, and joining a paysite to access porn.

these guys offer a free trial and its made very clear to them that if they do not cancel or uninstall, they get charged.

its the same shit as joining a paysite. does any fucking server ever read the tos on a paysite? maybe 1% maybe

Read all the TnCs???? Gotta be kidding me. OK, you start first. Did you read the Microsoft EULA?

At my age that fine print on a monitor is hard to read. MS has that magnifier, but I normally use that to look at pussy.

Epic turns off the exits with a simple request without even a question.

As for the the ethics or smart business practice of using ransomware, I think the point was already argued and a thread got closed.

Epic is not the only program with traps and exits to this type of material. Some big names are on the list.

Everyone gets pissed off all the time about the fine print. A car rental company advertised a nice rate at the airport. Get to check in and find out about the surcharge. So Trey has a point about business in general.

I choose not to treat surfers that way. In the end the practice prolly makes money, pisses off a lot of people and chases some away.

i'd say the main difference is this:
they don't simply get charged. users don't have to enter info to download it so when the trial expires, instead of turning into a rebill, their computer gets turned into an adware maching spewing out pop ups and such until they pay. if you could simply remove it and stop all that, i'd say there is no problem with it but apparently, you can't.

yes you can. in 3 days.. and as we all know on the internet. 3 days is like 30 days in the real world.

so with that inmind.. what happens when you are 30 days past due on bills?

you get collection letters, harassing phone calls, bad credit dings etc etc etc

even knocks on your door.

dont fucking play this up like this is some ploy to take over the world. its business.

notyhing more nothing less.

you fucking clowns amaze me at your ignorance.

CyberHustler 05-18-2006 08:03 AM

honestly i dont know.. but that 99 bucks buys you something, and im quite sure its pretty generous. ill find out how long it gets you. either way if its anything over 90 days its a fucking steal.

every paysite out there with good content and exclusive content avg 33 bucks a month

lol, i hope you're kidding. your analogy is bullshit unless users can keep accessing the free porn after the 3 days while they are getting hit with the adware which i very much doubt.

anyways, i don't fear any plots of world domination, just sliding another notch down that slippery slope of surfer alienation.

IF YOU FAIL TO PAY OR CANCEL DURING THE TRIAL PERIOD, YOU ARE LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO PURCHASE AN ANNUAL LICENSE TO THE MEDIAPIPE SOFTWARE AT THE PRICE LISTED IN THE ADVERTISEMENT YOU CLICKED THROUGH TO INITIATE INSTALLATION.

and that is different than trying out new cable channels on your cable box how?

everything is free to some extent... enevitably ending up in a paid subscription some how some way. thast the fucking point of doing business you stupid fuck.

SmokeyTheBear 05-18-2006 10:26 AM

worst thread ever , you didnt help your site out one iota by making this thread..

The sort of reverse billing you are talking about is unethical and people arent going to stand for it.

You can make a stand and i applaud you for doing so , but if you read the tos , its nothing like visa or the phone company or anything of the sort..

Name one company thats contract obliges the user to use the product for life ? there are none. as soon as the ftc catches wind of this they will be turfing them , and anyone standing near them will most likely be looking just as guilty.

You should read my other thread about this topic. I truly believe most companies are being tricked into thinking this is a "good deal" for them , when most likely they are slowly making sure their surfers NEVER come back to their sites..
