Buy a Canon EOS 20 or 30 DSLR, really good choice!

the best digital cameras are the ones attached to great photogs (see dean capture).

Define "not too expensive"- $300? $1500 $3000?

$1,000 would be max....i've seen post on this board showing cameras that take really good detailed images...like waterdrops and sand being thrown...

I'm not a profesional photographer, more like a hobbiest... with that being said though, You can pick up a Nikon D1x for a little over 1,000 and they are great Cameras

I am a professional photographer, and the camera doesn't make a good image.

Knowledge and using light are paramount.

Give a carpenter a hammer and he builds things. Give a gorilla a hammer and he breaks things. Same tool, but in the right hands you get something great. In the wrong hands, you get shit.

best of luck many good cameras out there

Lots of digital cameras from a reputable company

I love ppl who buy a $3000 camera, and always keep it switched on "auto"!

I can't say I know anything about digital cameras so if I buy anything it will ba an average canon fits-good-in-your-pocket-model. Video cameras on the other hand . . . ^^

Dont bother with a D1x... might as well get a D200, better camera

we use the canon 20d and its incredible.
we started out with the olympus e10 and that's also a great camera. has an excellent piece of glass!

No actually we started with the hp 1.3 megapixel , then the kodak, then the olympus.
I would look at the the new samsung dslr read good reviews on it in popular photography and its in your price range and there are a obscene amount of lens that fit it. Also you can look at used www.keh.com

There's really not a whole ton of difference, for an amateur, between the Canon Digial SLR Rebel XT (8mp) and the 20D/30D (8.2mp), except you can get the rebel for about $599-$699 and the next step up is like $1200.

good advice. great workhouse camera and makes the consumer d series look like toys.

however, if you can go up to 1600-1700 the d200 is a GREAT body.

best nikon color i have seen.

BillyHoe 07-02-2006 12:15 PM

I'd recommend the nikon d70 I've had no problems with it, and for the price it's got good reviews. Cannon's are a bit better but they are also more expensive in most cases.
