By clicking on this advertisement and installing the FileGrabber software I affirm that I am at least 18 years of age and wish to participate in the MoviePass 3-Day FREE trial. I understand that if I do not cancel within the trial period that I will be legally obligated to purchase a license for the FileGrabber software for US$99.00. Because I put it on photobuckets... don't have an adult image free host.

SmutGiant 05-18-2006 01:43 AM

That's fucked. If the product was worth anything they wouldn't have to resort to shady marketing tactics like that.

SmutGiant 05-18-2006 01:45 AM

Although I did just check out Moviepass.tv and it looks like a pretty cool idea, but is their content legal?

That was going to be my question for tomorrow... this is what their site says

What is the Download Manager?
The Download Manager technology is a new application that allows you to reliably download quality media files from many different internet sites that the MoviePass media search engine helps you locate. The Download Manager allows you to completely manage your media library. Watch it now or watch it later - with the Download Manager you decide what you want and when you want it.

Some of the other things I've read is that it's like a Peer to Peer thing... In a way... Guba like in that they don't "appear" to own the content... There's no 2257 link from their index page.

Tempest 05-18-2006 06:04 PM

Bump for those that didn't see this.

CyberHustler 05-18-2006 06:06 PM

what?.... you don't say!

JamesK2 05-18-2006 06:10 PM

The Duck 05-18-2006 06:15 PM

I'd hit it, for sure.

u-Bob 05-18-2006 06:21 PM

FreeFastHost 05-18-2006 06:32 PM

Me neither, very disappointing to see companies having to resort to this kind of shit. If they spent more time focusing on creating a better product they wouldn't have to scam surfers.

DirtyRider 05-18-2006 11:11 PM

Poor surfers... thats why you get people not wanting to take out their credit cards.

lazycash 05-18-2006 11:28 PM

Interesting affiliate program for this, https://secure.webmastersdirect.com/programs.html

They must be making a killing if they are only paying .50 per download. Wonder what the average ratio of surfers that get held hostage by their ransomware and end up paying the $99 to get that crap off their pc. It does sound like by their program that the content is peer to peer type access that you could probably gain access to with any file sharing app.

basschick 08-29-2006 09:13 PM

what could be better for the longevity of the industry than teaching more surfers not to trust adult sites? ;)

Damian_Maxcash 08-29-2006 09:22 PM

Double Post

Damian_Maxcash 08-29-2006 09:23 PM

Look down the board a bit - there is a thread about EpicCash promoting this shit....

Here it is, the thread about EpicCash promoting ransomware
