To his own sponsor which you get no credit for whatsoever.

Maybe a stupid question but theres a reason im asking this.

Verbal Kint 05-17-2006 04:56 PM

Here locally on a page that get 3/4 of a million page viewed minimum a day, only 4 % of the people average user firefox. It's different regionally, and definitly a lot higher on webmaster sites.

Why so high Firefox figures?

W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies. These people are more interested in using alternative browsers than the average user. The average user tends to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled with Windows. Most do not seek out other browsers.

These facts indicate that the browser figures below are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is used by at least 80% of the users.

Anyway, our data, collected over a five year period, clearly shows the long and medium-term trends.

I based this on 2 trackers on 2 different sites. Anyway, its wrong. Even if its 1%.

Dirty F 05-17-2006 06:06 PM

ONe of my sites:

MSIE 6 7518 63.10%
Firefox 1.5 2083 17.48%
Firefox 1 646 5.42%
AOL 9 433 3.63%

dave_w 05-17-2006 06:12 PM

i hope WD goes outta business...they seem to have some pretty shady business practices

You have a point, I should have looked further. Most of my sites are right around your first figures(7-12%), but I only see these users multiplying in the future. Whether 1%, 10% or 25%, to steal that traffic is still wrong.

CDSmith 05-17-2006 06:25 PM

Whether it's 5% or 25%, it doesn't matter.

I'm never happy with a sponsor when I find out I'm sacrificing ANY percentage of my traffic.

period.
