What skills/experience in this industry do you have?
 

I'm curious as to the average level of knowledge of this industry among GFY posters, so please post a short overview of your experience and skills here.

As for me:

8 years in the industry.
Experience running tgps, linklists, blogs, freesites, toplists, review sites, se-spamsites, online communities, a sex guide site and a story site.
Knowledge of html, xhtml, css, javascript, php, c++, basic flash, basic server admin, basic photoshop, intermediate seo.

I gave up on skills long ago. I rely sololy on the power of my low postcount... and 8char ICQ number.

i don't have much... been in the biz about 3 months
i'm trying to get into the sales / customer rep. part of things though.

I've been working in the news field as an editor for the last 5 plus years but about 6 years ago I did some work at foxes.com. I basically organized all of the pics that were going ontot the site into the proper directories and made sure all the links worked. I also answered customer emails and looked out for CC fraud issues. Right now I am trying to get my foot in the door doing some shooting and editing.

If you want to go into the sales side, you should sell yourself :winkwink:

You don't have much experience on the tech side of the industry, but you have excellent people skills, are a hard worker and an expert at marketing.

I go to conventions and post the same stupid pictures of myself doing another guy. Of course the pictures are fake, but it works every time.

Im pretty good at html, photoshop and premiere.
I run a few fake tgps and am always looking for domains.
Other than that Im just here to look at all the sexy ladies on gfy.

you should see the resumes I put together for some of the companies offering jobs here on GFY. They go for the popular folks or just forget they even posted a job opening.

Of course they go for the popular folks. The popular ones are the ones who manage to sell themselves constantly. A good resume is nice, but if people have noticed you before you even applied, they have more reason to believe that you are able to do what they're seen you do - draw attention.

A resume is like a paysite tour, but networking is like driving traffic.

After more than a decade in the biz, the list is rather long.

First and foremost, I'm a pshop expert. Been workin' with it since it was called BarneyScan...then Aldus Photostyler...then eventually bought out by Adobe. Proficient in other apps such as coreldraw, illustrator, PSP, photoimpact, poser, bryce and a few others I can't think of.

Photography, video production, website design, website admin, marketing & promotion, creative web graphics (logos, banners, etc), set & prop design/construction, lighting, rigging, post production editing.

I don't do windows. Sorry ladies.

Here's my lame-ass resume...

6 years: Membership site front end and backend. Billing integration. WAP site and dynamic content to handset delivery. SMS campaigns. PHP, Java, Tomcat, Apache, MySQL / Oracle sql, AJAX, CSS, (D/X)HTML, JavaScript.

And with all that, all I really want to do is sell flavored shaved ice on the beach.

Oh and as for me, have been editing adult video since this september, but have been doing mainstream work for 4+ years now.
