Da Vinci Code Getting Slagged By the Reviewers

wow, they are saying its a bad movie, some even calling it terrible. at key points in the flick, the movie elicited laughter and jeering at the Cannes Film Festival where it was shown.

hope it doesn't turn into a major disappointment.

J. Falcon 05-17-2006 09:15 AM

It's a terrible book IMO. No surprise here.

Choppa 05-17-2006 09:20 AM

Overhype can have the reverse effect sometimes.

E$_manager 05-17-2006 09:36 AM

Would like to see the movie.

WDchris 05-17-2006 09:38 AM

I just spoke to the Pope. He's not pleased. Oh well. Fuck it.

TheLegacy 05-17-2006 09:39 AM

I'll see it for the entertainment factor alone - but for anyone who takes it seriously I would be surprised.

there are secrets of religion that are just as intriguing

WebairGerard 05-17-2006 09:40 AM

I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the movie. Started Angels and Demons and it's pretty cool too so far.

I never read the book.. but I actually want to watch the movie. It seems interesting enough... we'll see how it goes :)

Tom_PM 05-17-2006 10:27 AM

I'm sure it's a decent movie with Ron Howard/Tom Hanks combo. But you have to remember it's fiction.

tranza 05-17-2006 10:27 AM

I couldn't care less about the review, I really want to see this movie...

:)

gooddomains 05-17-2006 10:30 AM

I know..........Cinderella Man was last years hidden gem.......hoping Da Vinci will be at least OK

hezochiah 05-17-2006 12:20 PM

I don't let reviews dictate what I go to see because most critics don't know what they're talking about.

Well said! :thumbsup

CyberHustler 05-17-2006 01:16 PM

most critics were religious fundamentalists

pornguy 05-17-2006 01:19 PM

I can come up with a few ideas on why this movie would be talked down. I for one am surprised that it was even made.

loverboy 05-17-2006 01:31 PM

those critics have to do better than that to spoil the film

bought 4 advance seats for today, should be a fully packed movie house

In my opinion, it's better than Angels and Demons.

Jill_J 05-17-2006 01:38 PM

I read the book and liked it a lot but I think that I'll be disapointed with the movie:(

MarkMan 05-17-2006 01:41 PM

hmm.. would see it in a few days.. only time will tell how good it is

sexyblogs 05-17-2006 02:07 PM

I dont think critics reviews will stop people from going. The people who think the book is real and their new religion or something will go see it no matter how crappy the film might be.

Big Red Machine 05-17-2006 03:32 PM

I'm a Critic of Critics. I usually like movies they don't. Most of the time I'll look at the critic on TV and figure I have nothing in common with him.

D 05-17-2006 03:38 PM

Ya... I actually dug Angels & Demons a lot more than the Da Vinco Code... kinda found the Da Vinci Code a bit boring, actually.

Doctor Dre 05-17-2006 03:38 PM

The book was pretty good. Deception point too... Looking forward tos ee the movie, but I just don't see how they can carry the spirit and the information about all the symbols that is included in the book.

What was good about the book was the information about the symbols mostly. The story itself is nothing spectacular.

Ian 05-17-2006 03:58 PM

Loved the book. I'm not really religious but like a good thriller. Don't care about critics, looking forward to the movie for entertainment value.

What's this about "Angels and Demons" ? Haven't heard about this. Good read? Fill me in.

:thumbsup

germ 05-17-2006 04:09 PM

its a conspiracy. all the religious zealots have taken over the movie reviewers.

World Expert Internet Service 05-17-2006 04:12 PM

well i'm off to see it this we anyhow!:321GFY

Jennyfer 05-17-2006 04:30 PM

I really want to see that movie, i hope they are wrong about it.

royaleWITHcheese 05-17-2006 06:09 PM

I'm not holding my breath. Movies always suck when compared to the books.

Yea i enjoyed the book too. Its hard to see a movie after you read the book because the book is almost ALWAYS way better. I was kind of surprised they cast tom hank. I would have thought sean connery would have made a better choice.

nestle 05-17-2006 09:49 PM

Angels & Demons is such a more interesting read then The Da Vinci Code. As a fiction thriller, I think Dan Brown is a pretty good writer. Obviously, he is just a writer and not a literary genius like Robert Frost or Shakespeare but it is still difficulty to write a book and make it flow well.

I am looking forward to the movie, it's been hyped up way too much (like Matrix 2 and 3) and people have so much expectations going into the movie that the negative reviews are no surprise.

reynold 05-17-2006 11:12 PM

i haven't seen the movie yet and i hope it's not a lame one.
