Outlook is whacked

Every once in a while, Outlook seems to create extra instances of itself.... but they're not visible. If I pop the Task Man, I can see them in the processes..... and not that's it's doing any damage or anything, but it's annoying as hell because the one side effect of it seems to be that the little new mail icon down in the taskbar just stays there even after you've checked all the new messages....

does this happen to anyone else?

Rod 05-19-2002 09:45 AM

Never happened to me ...

I'm seriously considering it..... cuz something must be fucked up.... it's never done this before....

Amputate Your Head 05-19-2002 09:49 AM

I'm just really curious to know how it's spawning duplicate processes.... if it's something fucked in Outlook itself, or if there's some other program maybe that's possibly interacting with it and causing it to happen...

kenny 05-19-2002 09:52 AM

Can't you just reinstall it so everthing is default?

FATPad 05-19-2002 09:53 AM

Oh.

No idea.

yeah, I guess so.... but that doesn't help me understand what's causing it.... that's all I was really interested in.... planning to format c in a few months anyway.... soon as I can make a fourth copy of all my data.... need to clean up this drive and probly swap it with a larger one anyhoo..... :winkwink:

Happens to me once in a while too. Sometimes I have 8-10 instances of msimn.exe running at once. Drives me nucking futs. Seems to only happen if I haven't rebooted in a couple of days or have been playing a lot of games.

Exxxotica 05-19-2002 12:55 PM

I don't like Outlook, but since my old computer fried on me, I've been forced to use it.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of Eudora Pro online?

bdld 05-19-2002 03:02 PM

Hot Tropical Babes 05-19-2002 03:06 PM

Try http://www.eudora.com/

You weren't implying you wanted it for free, were you?

Beastiepoo 05-19-2002 03:12 PM

Has happened to me. Usually after the HD gets a bit beefed up with crap and either a major clearout and defrag or a format c: is needed. Also has happened when I needed to upgrade to more RAM. Hasn't been so much of a problem since upgrading to XP tho....

Hot Tropical Babes 05-19-2002 03:19 PM

I cant defrag,, it keeps telling me something else is writing to that drive, WTF?
