Due to the large volume of Fansign threads, and the spam level abuse of some, here are the fansign rules at GFY.

1. Your 'announcement' thread has to have at least one fansign in the first post. The fansign must be for one of the big posters or moderators on GFY.

2. Your fansigns must be completed in no less than three days, and you must do at least 20 of the first posters to the thread.

3. The cannot be computer generated or simple text that could have been computer generated. That is pure spam. They need to have texture and variation to them, in other words, it has to be totally obvious to anyone that they are hand made.

4. There cannot be any conditions to making a sign, such as you must signup for an affiliate program.

If you do not like the rules, don?t do fansigns and leave it up to the girls who really want the publicity.

There are many many more, yet the search is malfunctioning for me.
Then there are a few who break the rules when they post the offer, demanding stipulations. Then others that seem to just pick and choose who they do the signs for and skip many of the first requesters.

but seriously i know the feeling although once i was totally suprised and was doing a google images earch for my name and came across a fansign a girl made for me that i thought she hadnt :)

It's not the end of the world, but it's pretty annoying - especially when they keep posting in other threads, but ignore the people setting up promotion for their sites waiting for the fansign.
