machinegunkelly 05-16-2006 12:06 PM

I can't even hit the fuckin ball ! :(

CherryLipsRosa 05-16-2006 12:07 PM

Sosa 05-16-2006 12:10 PM

tuck your shirt in next time!

Thomas1007 05-16-2006 12:11 PM

go to the driving range and practice.
straighten your swing and balance.:thumbsup

Ecksent 05-16-2006 12:15 PM

http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/curre.../03/z00402.jpg

Keep that left arm straight as possible.................

http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/curre.../03/z00404.jpg

And your arms closer to your body...........

http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/curre.../03/z00406.jpg

Keep your lower body planted. It's all about the rotation of your hips I found.

That was the problem I had. I used to swing it like a baseball bat and pivot my feet. Keep them planted and use your body weight as your friend. How do you think John Daly hits the ball a mile like he does....it's all about the love handles.....:thumbsup

Brad Gosse 05-16-2006 12:17 PM

Oh man I am loving this, keep the pro advice rolling.

Pro my ass. Shit I lost like 30 golf balls while I was in Florida last week. I played TPC Sawgrass though. I think I lost at least 12 on #17. That shit is harder than it looks on TV. DAAAAAMN!

My dad played a tourney there and got closest to the pin on #17

He even got the Plate # TPC 17

Nice. It was pretty windy that day too, so I'm going to chalk it up to that. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Babagirls 05-16-2006 12:42 PM

http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/curre.../03/z00401.jpg

You are too far past parallel at the top of your backswing and the club face is closed. This is the result of your improper takeaway. You are using a baseball-bat style grip too, which will cause you to 'cast' the club on your downswing.
http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/curre.../03/z00402.jpg

I will say something good about your swing in this photo. You started your downswing with your lower body. See how both knees are bent.
http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/curre.../03/z00403.jpg

This is called 'casting'. You do not have the proper wristcock angle, again losing power in your swing. You have not transferred your weight to the left side as you started to in your downswing.
http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/curre.../03/z00404.jpg

All in all your swing is not too far off from the average player. By that, I mean that all these improper swing mechanics are because you are trying to hit the ball hard to make it go far. Golf is a game of opposites (eg, hit down on the ball to get a high trajectory, etc.). Hitting the ball hard will come later after you learn how to swing the club.

I would suggest you take advantage of the 'may is the free pga golf lesson month'. You can find a pga instructor in your area from playgolfamerica.com. Its a ten-minute lesson, but it will give you enough info about the instructor to pick the one you want to come back to.

There are two types of lessons, depending on what your goal is. You can get the 'quick fix' lesson that will help you at least make descent contact with the ball. Or you can get the long term lessons that will help you shoot lower scores consistently.

You don't need many lessons. In fact, you could probably get by with three. Be sure to take a friend to help you remember all the info. That way when you forget it, and you will forget it, they can remind you what you should be doing.

Oh yeah, one more thing. You will need many many many buckets of range balls to practice what the instructor tells you.

Hope this helps.

I need to get back into playing golf again, especially with the summer approaching...

OY 05-16-2006 03:57 PM

First thing, keep your weight on your LEFT foot 60/40, head down, head cool and prey for some luck... then the game will come naturally......

:thumbsup

You are releasing the club way to early. Don't turn your lower body so much, mostly just shoulders. And try an over lap grip, or finger lock grip, power grips are strong but weak in consistancy.

Wiggles 05-16-2006 06:23 PM

takes alot of practice, and its alot of fun to do, keep at it.

Spunky 05-16-2006 06:23 PM

I never could master that damn sport
