Forum owners ? how do you make users to post??? (phpBB)
 

I have adult forum that grew to 400 members in 2 month.. Close fetish niche so nothing like ?teen babes?.. over 400 members but very few posters. Should I install mode that limits views or what???

well personally , those , post to view mods are a load of shit
they piss alot of forum users off , and you'll just get spam with "show me, let me see" nothing of value

you need to make them want to post , you could try , putting users in a different group and needing X amount of posts to get to the other sections , but you'll still get bombarded with spam posts

Might try adding a store with some swag for posters....

Contests requiring X number of posts and a new topic or 2 within a set period of time worked well for me...

Seeding the forum with new topics from several fake nicks of your own helps get peeps to post.

Topics about current hot news items..especially controversial subjects gets em to post.

and as GFY has proven, ranks according to post count helps to keep members posting...you can also reward top posters with access to hidden forums..pics..giveaways..etc.

I dont know what the general subject matter of your forum is but adding categories for things like jokes..tech stuff..maybe a soap box forum for peeps to rant about whatever is bugging them in life makes for some interesting reading at times..Recipies/Food catagories gets some involved and those posts are easy to seed yourself with a cookbook or 2..

but no doubt its not easy to get people involved posting...easy to get readers but only a small percentage will ever post.

i installed a mod that give people "money" or points for posting (extra bonus for active thrads) and then i created an extra section, which only users over X points have access to... it was slow at the beginning, but they all wanted to know the secret :)... so they started posting...

I own a surfers forum and have over 1200 members and 26,000 posts, but none of them ever join my sponsor links, i think they are a waste of time to be honest, they are all there for free porn.

give out weed in the contests

hire some posters that would make interesting threads so that people would participate and will put life into your forum.

the problem with getting titles under the username and access to secret areas is that it encourages spammage
now while spam does make the forum look active in the long run it does nothing to make the forum productive , it just takes up resources
