What would it take for Phat Servers to earn your business?

What would it take for Phat Servers to earn your business?

As a company grows it's crucial to make changes and improvements to keep up with the needs of their customers and also to get ahead of the curve. Over the past several years Phat Servers has taken many steps to keep up with that curve but we are seeking input as to how we can not only improve our service to existing customers but also gain the business and trust of new customers.

So here's my question to both current customers or non-customers that simply have input on what a good host should be... how can we improve our service? How can we earn your business? What can we do that will make you confident in us?

Please post your thoughts!

You in a dress looking pretty : )

Sly 05-15-2006 11:15 AM

I like strippers. Does that count?

And kristin, you know damn well I don't need a dress to look pretty. My zebra striped thong always brings out the blue in my eyes.

Ordo 05-15-2006 12:53 PM

All my sites are hosted on Phat Servers and I couldn't be more happy with them.
Support, instant, everytime.
Speed, I always have designers and devs comment on the speeds of my FTP.

Just a damn solid company, don't let the name fool you.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-15-2006 04:42 PM

i need a server that has a fair amount of space, 5gb is enough, and can handle around 1000 visitors online at one time, watching a 5mb video with around 300k visitors visiting a site watching 5mb videos all day long... and i wan't the videos to load fast and no down time, if you can do that, and for a cheap price, you got me hooked.

CyberHustler 05-15-2006 04:42 PM

I've been a phatservers customer for near on 2 years now and can't think of anything that you guys need to change to offer a better service.

Every single support ticket I've ever put in has always been answered under 30mins, from piss easy stupid shit qn's to slightly tricker ones. Support is always about as I was suprised to find out. Sunday morning 4am in Australia and my ticket gets answered thats golden to me.

If anyone is looking for a new host I can highly recomend them. In the near on 2 years I've been with them, I shit you not I've prolly only had around 40mins downtime, due to upgrades and whatnot. I never hear from them except @ invoicing time, and they're always on the ball, what more could you ask for?

Well let's see.

For starters my wife and I would like to visit your datacenter. Please send a private jet along with a cute stewardess and handsome pilot to pick us up. We of course expect a limo to bring us to the airport from our home and to pick us up from the airport when we arrive. Please make sure the limo bar is stocked with Dom, Johnny Walker Blue, Grey Goose, and Kona Nigari.
After the datacenter tour we'd like to have a private dinner cooked by the Prince of Saud's private sous chef.
We were thinking of a reinterpretation of classic Provençal cuisine. Cassoulet, duck with green olives, and saffron chicken. For dessert we'd like Tomate du Saltambique. (A big seedless, beefsteak tomato stewed for three hours in crème de caramel and stuffed with passion fruit, kiwi, and hazelnuts, and served on a pomegranate reduction)

After dinner we'd like to have our private limo drive us to the hotel penthouse suite that you're paying for us to stay in where we'll be greeted by our attractive private masseuse and hot tub filled with chocolate pudding.
We also like you to contact the concierge and make sure that our mini bar is stocked with plenty of goat cheese and kitty litter for the evening's sexual escapades.

After you fly us back to our homes we'll call you (collect) and work out a deal on a virtual account with 2 ip addresses and 10GB a month of data transfer.

Sly 05-15-2006 08:29 PM

Lenny... for you? Anything!

Thanks for all of the kind comments and feedback everyone. It is appreciated.

the host should of course be reliable...once this is given....
the most important thing is the company structure...
i have up til now always hosted with small hosts that have a family busines kind of feel....

they are ALWAYS available to sort out any issues.....

and i love them for it

if you have that....minor deviations in price don't really matter

BradM 05-17-2006 03:15 PM

You already have my business, and I have referred friends. I love your service, support, uptime and machine reliability. Couldn't be happier with you. I just can't wait to upgrade my plans. :)

In my opinion give current customers discounts for referring friends. People will trust current customers

Price matching....

bump for a good server company :)

Mr Pheer 05-17-2006 04:28 PM

Does phatservers offer seo hosting? You know, multiple ips spread across several different class c? If so I'd be interested... already have similar setups with gotwebhost and splitinfinity

We take the hassle of admining a server out of your life. We want our clients to worry about making money with their websites and not struggling 3 hours to update to their kernel on their server or worrying about latest security patches and endless other things a server can need. Our techs are some of the best in the business period, i'm sure some of our clients can comment on that.
Now if you have something of equal value to match lets talk and see what we can do.

I'll do that. I'll credit the referrers account for any new friends sent our way. If anyone would like details on this, feel free to hit me up.

MrPheer, sorry but we don't offer SEO hosting like baddog. Phat Servers and Got Web Host have two totally different hosting models and two totally different target clients. We specialize in dedicated solutions, though we also offer a wide array of smaller non-dedicated packages starting at just $9.95 a month.

As far as price matching goes... as Moose said, we offer very competitive rates and do try to match similar plans whenever possible. The keyword there is "similar". Don't come at me with Server Beach prices and expect a match. :-)

I've gotten some great emails with input out of this thread. Thanks for the ideas, comments, and support.

As a customer, I just want a good reliable server, cheap hosting, nice, polite tech support that is readily available, even on sundays.

As an individual, there is nothing I love more than a personal service. I frequent this restaurant, buy takeout there all the time. And everytime I am there the manager takes 5 minutes to talk to me and my girlfriend. He is on a first name basis with both of us and is a very charming man. He takes care of all his frequent customers this way, even the ones that are perfectly ordinary, such as myself. I will always go to his restaurant at least once a week and I will always be a loyal customer, because of the personal service.

I have 2 dedicated machines with gotwebhost and pay them over $700 a month and I do not need tech support hardly ever. I administer and run my own machines and dns and prefer it if everyone else just stays off my machines. Pretty much have the same deal with splitinfinity except just one server with them, and three servers with reliableservers.net. I dunno what you thought I was asking but a $9.95 virtual account is pretty laughable to me.

Were you not asking for IPs over many different C classes? That we do not do. If I understood you wrong than I apologize, but anytime anybody has ever asked me about SEO hosting its been for a $30 account with 10 IPs over 10 C classes. If you would like to talk more about this and explain exactly what you're looking for I'll be happy to look into it.

I was asking for a dedicated machine with seo ip spread, not a $30 account :1orglaugh

but if you dont do it thats fine

Mr Pheer 05-17-2006 09:08 PM

so its confirmed, you dont do seo hosting even for a dedicated server?

nofx 05-17-2006 09:56 PM

youd have to let me host a bunch of warez sites, allow me to have as many bullet proof servers as I wanted and let me pay my invoices whenever I felt like it.

We have been doing that long before "getwebhost" was even thought of.

hit up Sly or I and we can work something out. We actually own our ips so we have some leway.
