domain banned in google ? ( smokey style )
 

Not sure if you caught the other thread about the tool to check if the sites you link to are banned from google ( if you care about that sort of thing )

( basically it crawls your site for outbound links and checks them in google to see if they are banned or not )

but it was an exe tool that some people might be aprehensive of installing so i built an online version with php..

( btw this may stop working at some point for sending to many queries to google )

p.s. it doesnt actually check to see if the domain is banned it just checks to make sure pages exist on that domain in google.. if a domain is a forward it might show as failed when its not actually failed so i suggest handchecking the failed ones

failed means banned ( or that no pages exist for that domain in google )


p.s.s. if it fucks up for anyone try gfy.com because it works so you can tell if google has banned my ip or if its just not working for your site ( cant say it will work perfect )

Funny, I have a domain that's been banned on Google for a long, long time, but it still has over 50K listings on Froogle.

Does it actually hurt rankings linking to a banned site?

u bet it does

remember it only checks if pages exists on that domain , and if you go to google it says no results found for that domain..

Like all it does is a site:domain.com search , when i type site:asacp.com into google it finds zero results , strange though because there is one page

if anyone can figure out a better way to test if a domain is banned easier im all ears. and would love to add it to the tool.

6 months we've been banned, our site popped up last week and now it's back to shitsville...

if you send a reinclusion request to them they most of the time will reinclude you after a certain period that changes every time.

but i suggest making sure your site is clean as a whistle before you ask

How do you hand check the urls to see if they are banned?

well theres 3 ways to check that should tell you for sure..

first by searching for

site:yoururl.com

then try

"yourdomain.com"

then www.yourdomain.com

if you cant find a match on any of the three its almost guaranteed banned or never crawled

no it doesnt check all 3 it only does the most important that is site:yoururl.com

i could have made it do all three ways but google only allows so many queries per day , so this way it should only show a few "false hits" and those can be double checked by hand in google yourself , thats all i was saying :thumbsup

Problem is, if you're checking out a brand new domain that hasn't been crawled yet (which many people who are trading links will have) then it'll show a failure.

You could maybe do a whois query and look up the registered date of the domain, and if it's been around a while and still hasn't been indexed, that'll increase the chances that it's actually banned.

Also, checking for non-existant pagerank can add to the formula.
