Any Absinthe Drinkers here?
 

Out of curiosity anyone drink\enjoy the stuff? I've become a bit of a fan of late but am trying to find some new types to try out with reliable ordering and distribution (to the US). Any thoughts?

I tried it before and couldn't get past the first sip. If licorice and Vick's vapor rub is your thing then you'll love it. I couldn't stand it and didn't drink enough to get the "added" affects.

had that shit for the first time last year in Quito. The first drink that has made my eyes water and throat feel like it's on fire...nasty nasty drink!

you can definitely get it without the anise - but you will find it bitter in most cases - although loads of different flavors out there
the link goes to the czech varieties as they are the closest to the original from the early 1900s before it was prohibited

absinthe is big in the uk, we get the 80% export stuff! theres nothing like drinking that on a night out!

Question: What does Absinthe make you feel like? Honestly no BS stories

It's always made me a really lucid body drunk + euphoric. It's kinda hard to describe but when they call it a hallucenagenic it is in more the way pot is where you get like physical\mental effects but you're not actually seeing little green faeries flying around.

Now that sounds realistic, gotta try some :thumbsup

hm i made a post a few days ago, with the perfect absinthe recepy... i just had it last night and i love it.

Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of Pernod absinthe (best absinthe ive had)
- 1 empty bottle (old water bottle or something)
- sugar

How to make the perfect mix:
fill the empty bottle like this: 1/3 of water and 2/3 absinthe.
put a couple of teaspoons of sugar in the bottle. Just judge for yourself how much exactly you think you like, like putting sugar in your coffee.
Put the cap on the bottle & shake that shit.
Put in 30+ mins in the freezer.
ENJOY!

here in quebec we can buy it at the liquor store. I've bought about 3 bottles in the last few years. It's a very interesting buzz to say the least. I never seem to realize that I'm tripping on it until the next day when I try to figure out what the hell happened the night before.

Regardless, it is a great buzz... just don't drink too much of it in one night. I wouldn't recommend more than 4-5 ounce's of it.

There are some pretty drain-cleaneresque ones out there if you're not careful, but some of the better blends are grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat :)

I haven't tasted it yet but it really looks yummy.

i must do a bottle of pernod every week
its lovely
either 50/50 with lime juice or a smallamount topped up with lemonade and ice for a refreshing drink on the patio
