What qualifies as an NBA assist?
I have always assumed that an assist was credited to a player if he passes the ball up to another player, who WITHOUT dribbling, makes a shot.
What is the true defenition, since this is not true. |
Assist: A pass to a teammate that leads directly to a basket. The passer is credited with the assist only if the scorer must move immediately toward the basket and scores.

he can bounce the ball one time, no hessitation can take place from accepting the ball and attempting the shot. he can fade away as long as he is in the act of shooting hehe, he dont have to move towards the basket
