The amount of comment spam I've been getting the last couple of weeks is just ridiculous. A lot more than usual.

yeah no shit. I had nearly 500 comment spams yesterday. :( Yes, I know I can turn them completely off. But I don't want to. I shouldn't HAVE to turn them off.
