Motorcyclist clocked at 176 Mph in N. Dakota
Suffice it to say no one around where I live would dare go that fast, what with our shitty road conditions. :D
North Dakota - "Motorcyclist cited for going more than 100 mph over speed limit The Highway Patrol says man riding a motorcycle was arrested and ticketed for traveling 101 miles over the speed limit. Troopers say 19-year-old Vitaly Poberezhnik was clocked at 176 miles per hour Friday afternoon. Captain Mark Bethke says the motorcycle was clocked from a trooper airplane, about 10 miles east of Bismarck on Interstate-94. Bethke says the trooper who made the traffic stop said he could hear the motorcycle coming before he saw it. The trooper says it was just a blur as it went past. Bethke says Poberezhnick was issued tickets for speeding and reckless driving. Bethke says the fee for going 176 miles an hour in a 75 mile an hour zone is $505. He says Poberezhnik license is suspended, and 15 points have been charged to his license. That means he doesn't have it any more. Bethke says it's the fastest speeding ticket he can recall in North Dakota." Dude's lucky his little jaunt didn't end in a different way: http://www.thewinnipegpages.com/foru...1113755051.jpg |
I did 140 on a bike once in my youth
Was fucking amazing but would never do it again |
Its more common than you think. Anyone with a new 1000 nowadays can go 175 to 185mph.

This thread needs good motorcycle pictures not bad one.

I've gone 185mph on the back of a Ninja ZX9 through the McCarran Airport Tunnel here in Vegas. Scared the hell outta me!!

An old high school buddy of mine put the front tire of a 600 Ninja through the front windsheild of a pickup truck and turned himself into lunchmeat. I can still hear his mother's crying at his funeral. It was a closed-casket ceremony. |
Funny, I topped my GPZ 750 out at 175 got pulled over and the cop gave me an ass reaming and a ticket for 120 he said I put his radar gun on the fritz... Don't think In would try that again on a public road.

Suzuki Hyabusas modified with turbos have made as much as 700 HP in horsepower wars.
Myself , I went 187 once on a buddies backup attack formula R1 bike east of San Diego on I-8 once one night with a pack. (stupid yes but I never felt more alive after I got off. damm what a rush.... cars seemed parked on the road at that speed on the freeway and a simple bend in the road required hanging off to turn.) |
I hit 176 MPH exactly on my bike ONCE and NEVER EVER AGAIN. (however, I believe the higher up you go on the speedo the less accurate it is.) That's insane at that speed on a bike.

Fucker should have gotten his license in South Dakota. They dont put points on your license for speeding, parking or seatbelt. Just a fine.

there are very few public highways that you can go that fast with any (relative) safety.
and i have not been that fast on a bike, but close. truth is, many of the modern sportbikes in liter class and up will do that up until rev limiter kicks in (at approx 186mph). and many of the lightweight bikes without extensive wind tunnel R&D don't handle so good at very high speed, and their front ends get light, and they want to begin flying. suzuki hayabusa is an exception---the faster you go (in a straight line) the firmer it feels due to downward force on the front end because of fairing design, this makes high speed somewhat dangerous because it happens so fast and it seems so beniqn...very easy to go from 70 to 140 in top gear just by cracking the throttle and that speed builds in maybe 5 seconds. and you can do that easily just by passing a long string of cars. in nevada there are a few places you can get rolling VERY fast. also in the bay area north of santa cruz going north on highway 101 there is a long straight you could easily get up close to 200mph on a high powered bike without rev limiter. be careful. |
