What if we paid for .kids?

What if the adult entertainment industry took the initiative to create a non profit organization that ran the .kids tld. We could make it a priority to keep commercial interests to a minimum and have the organization join up with the open source community to create informative and entertaining sites.

I think we need to do something to show that the adult entertainment industry care as much as everybody else for the welfare of children.

Fresh 05-10-2006 02:29 PM

i disagree. I dont think we need to start a non profit anything to prove anything. Keep in mind the adult industry is the victim.

We saturate the internet with free porn, barely lift our finger to protect the children from it and we are the victim?

stay focused here. you are in the business of helping someone jack-off, not parenting someone elses children. If parents played their role as they should and jackasses didnt spam porn to children on Instant Messenger, we would be doing alright. The way i see it, if you are doing legitimate business, then yes you are the victim. :2 cents:

It's not about parenting, it about taking responsiblity for products that are harmful too children. We need to help the parents with the tools to protect children from our sites.

I think its a good idea.
maybe if the asacp were more proactive with ideas like this, instead of wanting 10 dollar kick backs per domain on .xxx we'd have a .kids already and we could let the little children of the world surf a safe web.

Are you serious? You haven't thought this through have you? Can you seriously, for even one second, believe that porn producers would be allowed to manage children's Internet surfing?

Once the press have finished rolling about on the floor laughing they'd have a field day.

As was said - try to stay focused.

WE?!?!?

Who is "WE"?! :1orglaugh

There is no industry coalition. Internet porn is all about individuals who think they are a big family because they have parties at conventions with naked chicks humiliated in front of fat webmasters taking pictures of them like savages.

Surely, a pornographer backed .KIDS extention will attract no heat from religious nut jobs, the average idiot, the republican party, and the Bush administration.

I disagree, if implemented right it would be easier to enforce. As an example you could require stricter rules and monitoring for chat sites on tld lvl.

wow dude, you should work for ASACP or something. Im not trying to be a dick about it or anything but i know my role and i play my role to the best of my abilities. Parents should play their roles and do what they need to do to make sure their children are not exposed to porn. Like, maybe, WATCHING them for a fucking change. Just like they should not be exposed to alcohol or drugs. Same concept. It's Netnannys, Surfwatchs, Cybersitters, Cyberpatrols role make sure kids are not exposed. If i worked for one of those companies, I would be all about protecting the kids, but thats not my role.

I dunno, maybe one day when ive made enough money to focus on something that dosnt make me any money, protecting other peoples children may be a possibility. Till then, my focus is on what my role is.

and just for the record, I have 3 nephews and 1 niece that i visit on a day to day basis.

I didn't say porn producers should manage children's Internet surfing.

Doing something to address the concerns these groups have would undermine their attempts to rid the internet of porn.

It would only strengthen their accusation that pornographers want to victimize kids. Possibly to the point where sane people might start agreeing with them.

Isn't it they who say the children are victims of easy accessible porn? And I think they are right. The only question is what to do about it. Since blacklisting don't work isn't whitelisting the only viable metod?

I think alot of people would be very glad to see the adult entertainment industry taking steps to protect children from porn.
