How many of you do test signups......

... and then don't tell the sponsor? I swear I see alot of people sending in a test signup over here at Porn Kings, a few people I have asked and they said it was a test.. wtf.. were you even going to tell me?

I see this other thread about people getting ready to test with their little group, but how many single affiliates have done this?

martinsc 05-10-2006 11:50 AM

i don't need to ...

karlm 05-10-2006 11:51 AM

Whats the big deal anyways?

HDADULT 05-10-2006 11:52 AM

I would if its not a well known program or suspect they are playing games.

Honez 05-10-2006 11:52 AM

Yep, we get those every week.

Manowar 05-10-2006 11:55 AM

i don't do it

Say you have 100 affils who do a test signup and never tell you, they cancel right away, that's $2500 lost on comissions you've paid.. you don't see a problem with that?

Now say if someone tells me that I am going to test sometime in the next week, and I will let you know after, then I'm cool with that, I can remove the comission from their account and it's all good.. but not letting the program know, and keeping the $$$ thats stealing...

QualityMpegs 05-10-2006 12:00 PM

Do people have a problem if you signup through your ref code if it is revshare? It is basically just giving you half off the price of a membership.

I would still think this qualifies as being bad if you never let the company know, and you keep the payout...

Doctor Dre 05-10-2006 12:33 PM

I've been terminated on revshare once for doing a test signup ... trial then cancelled... that was funny.

On PPS I always tell the sponsor

I doubt that since the program is out no money and is actually up some. The webmaster would just be getting his own money back minus the processing fees if any.

Degenerate 05-10-2006 12:39 PM

Did it once in the past, found nothing wrong. Told the program AFTER the fact, so they could not try anything.

madawgz 05-10-2006 12:58 PM

before i promote a sponsor i check to see if they are shaving or not, but i do ask them if i can do this test signup before hand

Snake Doctor 05-10-2006 12:59 PM

I've done it before. For PPS I'll tell the sponsor AFTER the signup shows up in my stats.

If it never shows up in my stats then obviously we have a problem.
If you tell them before it defeats the purpose of doing it....but you do have to tell them, you can't signup for 2.95 and then collect $35 for it.

Sparks 05-10-2006 01:02 PM

I usually do the 3-day trial test signup. This way it only costs me $2.95 to test it out and then I cancel before it turns into a full membership. I have never done a charge back or anything like that though.

It has been a god way a few times to show that sponsors really are being honest when I have thought they were shaving.

Do you tell them right away afterwards?

I dont understand why this is a problem?? I would activly advise my affiliates to make test signups... I make about 2-5 a day depending on whats happening....

Can you explain why you dont want people testing?

RogerV3 05-10-2006 01:41 PM

just cancel there account if they do it without notifying you within a couple days. i think epic was doing that a while back.

wdsguy 05-10-2006 01:42 PM

Seen it alot on our end too, I guess they figured they should just get the commission without saying anything.

He does not mind people testing.
He has a problem with people testing and then not telling him right afterwards so that he can remove the same from their payouts. That way it does not cost him and his company money.

BTW if anyone knows of a PPS program that pays on trials that has no problem with 2-5 test signups per day without me telling them please foward them to me ASAP. :winkwink:

Same here...and if you wouldn't mind adding me to some credit card offer mailing lists while you're at it, that would be great :winkwink:

Michael O 05-10-2006 01:47 PM

PPS I tell the program within 5 minutes of the signup showing in my stats, if affiliates don't they should be canned.

Revshare I don't see a need to tell the sponsor they are not losing anything.

I do not have a problem with someone testing then telling me about it, and forfiting the the commission that was generated by them testing the signup.

I DO have a problem with people who test a sale, then never report it and collect the PPS $$$...

Seems that there are a ton of people that think it is ok not to tell you about it..

Telling you about it takes away the whole reason for testing in the first place.

detoxed 05-10-2006 02:01 PM

If they are sending sales fuck it, pay on the damn test, if they test 10 times a pay period talk to them about it oviously

ahhh ok i understand, that makes sense do you have systems in place to monitor this or do you manually check this?

xclusive 05-10-2006 02:09 PM

I've never done a test signup. Either something is converting well or not.

VicD 05-10-2006 02:11 PM

I'll do it sometimes, always let the sponsor now (not immediately), fair enough

FreeFastHost 05-10-2006 02:48 PM

I do test signups all the time with sponsors I do 25+ signups/day with. I don't tell them either, I've caught all of them shaving except for one. I have a list of about 15 sponsors or so that I know for a fact are shaving.

Most sponsors shave and test signups are needed (if you're sending any real signups, if you're sending under 15/day I wouldn't do it). Even if they shave, I still promote them as long as the $ per click is above other sponsors.

All in all, as long as sponsors don't tell me when they're shaving, i'm not going to tell them when i'm doing test signups.

AndyMN 05-10-2006 02:58 PM

Feel free to test us anytime, just let me know after you have finished :)

tranza 05-10-2006 03:12 PM

I've never done it.

hova 05-10-2006 03:24 PM

I never did it

We use nats, but I'm not sure if it cross references IP on the fraud points for webmasters like it does for other members, we have caught some cheeting carders with nats, that makes it pretty nice, other than that we do hand check new webmasters when they send one sale right away, and also when the hits are super low we investigate.. like 1:2 ratios and stuff like that..

I only trip out on webmasters who never tell you it's them and they act as if it was never a big thing... especially if they do it a couple times a year without telling you...

Juicy D. Links 05-10-2006 05:35 PM

i do it , but i tell em afterwards

Juicy D. Links 05-10-2006 05:36 PM

I also tell em that i will be sending test signups at random toimes from diff ips and diff cc's but tell i will let you know so you can deduct it , keeps the programs on their toes just in case

nico-t 05-10-2006 05:44 PM

never done it

if you tell them you're going to do a test.... :helpme

CyberHustler 05-10-2006 06:19 PM

i used to do that

skinnay 05-10-2006 06:19 PM

i trust my sponsors

pussyluver 05-10-2006 06:35 PM

Do you really word to get around that your a cheat? So best to fess up to the test signs. Now those really cheating are a little more devious. Use mom's credit card on grandmas computer...... Students or any where groups of mischievous types can get together, ya got a potential problem. That's what fraud departments are for.

Linkster 05-10-2006 06:37 PM

Ive done test signups with any program that states I can in their TOS - the other sponsors I dont promote. I always tell the sponsor immediately afterwards, and have only had one sponsor ever tell me that I defrauded them - although I did it exactly the way Ive done it with every other sponsor and informed them always. Needless to say I cut my traffic from that sponsor.

Goldmaniacs 05-10-2006 07:09 PM

Show me a programme that does not shave and I'll show you a programme that will go bankcrupt. They all shave, what matters is who you make more $$$ with.
