You should come a summer, it's lasts for almost 6 months per year. I moved here last year, but haven't stayed for a Christmas to know how it is. I'll agree with you though that it can become boring through time. I haven't noticed this so far since I travel 7-8 times per year. Right now greek-cypriots are allowed to enter the occupied part. I've been there once. It is indeed a fucked up situation and most ppl are not aware of it which is even more sad since it's a problem going on for 32 years.

Regarding taxes being high in Sweden. They might, however keep in mind that many countries where taxes are higher, school, medical care etc are free....
