MPEG1 or MPEG2?
So recently someone brought it to my attention that apparently 80% of internet viewers can't play back video encoded in mpeg2. I'm curious, is there much if any truth to this? I'd imagine if you were on an older machine running win95 maybe not possible, but I'm not certain. Anyone have input on this?

Correct, MPEG2 is the devil

Thanks FHM, appreciate it. Can TMPGENC batch re-encode from mpeg2 to mpeg1?

If you have $150, use MainConcept MPEG Encoder
http://www.mainconcept.com/site/?id=825 fully supports batch mpeg-2 to mpeg-1 encoding (don't forget about de-interlacing for interlaced video) TMPEGEnc v.2.5x (free mpeg-1 encoder) not supports MPEG-2 file opening, but with DGMPGDec freeware you could create *.d2v files, which could be used for mpeg-1 encoding with TMPEGEnc - it will not be batch mode. |
MPEG2 is for pussy's.
Be an asshole and do yourself right. MPEG1. |
mpeg1 for the web.
mpeg2 for DVD's. |
