As the price of gas reaches new highs across the face of the world, and the oil companies are makeing more than ever before,. it is a race between the car companies to see who can build the car that eats the most gas.

It's unfortunate that AMG is weaning away from the precise factor that made them popular.Massive torque.They need the 7sp now because these new engines don't generate max power until 4500rpm.I just got that E55amg a few weeks ago,and 515lbs of torque at 2650 rpms will get your attention.

Other than that,it seems like overkill for an SUV.I drive an ML350 for the winter and that is plenty fast for what it was designed to do.

You need a GL Class not a lame ML. GL is roomier for cross country trips.
And you need a diesel engine. Horsepower is great and everything but for long trips ... its a good idea to get some fuel economy as well. If you don't need an SUV you can optin for either the new R Class or even the E Class estate.
