My holiday trip in Israel (pics)
 

Many and very interesting places to visit in Israel. I went for a week and visited Tel Aviv, Haifa, Eilat / Dead Sea and Jerusalem. Regardless what the media propaganda has injected to your brains it's a very a safe place.

The only thing that personally bothered me is the extreme measurements they take on the airport of Tel Aviv. Someone there should optimize the procedure if they want to see an increase in tourism because after getting asked for 3rd time the same questions from different security ppl you start wondering if it really worths ANY holidays destination this kind of hassle.

hey martin, it was a very busy schedule the whole week. I had in mind to meet several webmasters on first chance, but was literally impossible. Of course this wont be my last trip to Israel :)

lol good point. I didnt carry a cam most of the time and generally i dont take pics in public places with crowd like most tourists do. Jerusaleem had a lot of ppl. Same with major Tel Aviv streets and Haifa beach.

I went there as well last year, amazing trip, beautiful sights, and the food was delicious. You won't find produce like that here in the US.

Not just the produce. I had an office a couple of blocks outside the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv and most mornings I used to pick something up from an old-style bakery there. A fantastic selection of olives too, really cheap compared with the US or Europe. "Zhoug" (excuse the phonetic spelling) is a very hot Yemenite paste I remember fondly.

Actually the produce, so-so. It was certainly fresh, but the choice was quite limited. I was there 20 years ago, so maybe things have changed, but then imports weren't allowed, so if it wasn't grown locally, you didn't get it.

Eating on the run is the big thing in Israel, so shawarma and felafel stands everywhere. Not such hot restaurants, which made my life difficult when I was writing reviews for Dvar and didn't want to put down every place I went. Some exceptions: one I'm sure is still good is the oddly named "Philadelphia" near the Nablus Gate in Jerusalem and pretty much any of the fish places in Jaffa port: try the barbunia at Barbunia :)

Funny you mentioned olives....we ate at Olives and Fish and the salad there had the finest oil I've ever tasted.

Looks like a nice place to visit. but I think I will wait until all the shooting stops.

Silly. That's not Israel. Israel is all sand dunes and people live in tents. I see buildings.
