Stock Picks for May
What are some good short term plays and why do you believe so?
Microsoft is near its 3 yr low, the past week was pretty bad. Is it going to bounce back up or go even lower? I haven't been paying much attention to it other than noticing the 15% drop. I might buy a few soon.
I'm currently playing a pharmacuetical company called Xechem (ticker: XKEM) which has the rights to a sickle cell treatment that seems to work very well (non toxic). They are based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, but also have offices and a new multimillion dollar factory located in Nigeria (sickle cell capital of the world). By June they are expecting NAFDAC drug approval, an 8 million dollar loan for factory expansion, and commencement of the factory and immediate drug production. Over 25% of Nigerians carry the sickle cell trait and over 6% are afflicted with the disease.
That's right, im investing in a penny stock with ties to Nigeria. It doesn't get much riskier than that! But this could easily turn into 10 bagger, if all comes true. Just with NAFDAC approval, which could happen any day now, the stock could shoot up nicely. Do your own research, read about the Bristol Meyers lawsuit and cash settlement, what the president in Nigeria said about launch in June, the companies annual report, the loan refinancing, results of clinical trials, orphan drug approvals and applications, etc. Dillution/conversions seem to be over - 800+ million o/s - unless they need funds to continue (but with drug approval comes instant revenue), lately an investor had to sell some shares (could only own 5%) so that has driven the price down lately, but this area seems to be as low as she goes .011-.012. This company has been trying to release this drug for years, and they seem to be close. I'm willing to bet on it, this could bring in $500+ million in revenues the next couple of years. You'll either make a lot of money with this one or lose it all, but i like the odds...
What else has potential? I dont want to put all my money into risky penny stocks.
