.xxx or mandatory marking - the real reason behind it
It's pretty simple. Right now the government can not control the internet, but as soon as all united states adult sites have the mandatory marking and/or .xxx is in place (marking being a lot more probable though), all schools, libraries, and most households with children will start blocking every internet site outside the united states. Obvious excuse is that they can FINALLY control the porn this way. This can be done very easily, its all seperated by the proper ip ranges already. After that the true reason ('free speech and alternative news sites blocking') is a lot easier to attain ;)
Illusionary freedom, now coming to an ISP near you. |

Hey! Fuck off already.
This shit has been posted a zillion times already. At least post something smarter if you waste your time to write that. |

post your comments to ICANN now. before its too late.
here is mine. .XXX is about money and taking advantage of a situation, nothing more nothing less. Those behind .XXX are opportunists, nothing more nothing less. The facts are that .XXX will not protect kids from pornography on the Internet. .XXX will not stop the bad CP people either. I am sure that ICANN has extremely intelligent people driving the ship, and can see right through the veil of "false desire" that those in favor of .XXX are painting for them. Lets hope that they are not swayed by the deceitful tactics of those who are planning to line their pockets with the results of a decision opposed by the majority in the online adult theatre. Many online adult webmasters are afraid of the spotlight, but are greatly opposed to .XXX. Those of us who are not afraid of standing up for the rest of the industry should be counted as exponential voices for those that are not willing to publicly post their views and positions for fear of future retaliation or exploitation. For every one of us that are making public comments, there are 99 behind us that will not publicly post their opinon. .XXX is a coup of sorts, with the full intention being greed. I have been involved in online adult marketing since 1999 and this is one of the most abhorrent displays of brute thuggery that I have had the displeasure of experiencing. .XXX serves no positive intent. .XXX has many detrimental ripple effects. We respectfully request that ICANN really take a look at the intentions of those behind .XXX and not allow their presented falsities and deception to sway a decision in favor of those motivated by money. .XXX is bad for everyone in so many ways. Thank you for your time and consideration. Regards A very concerned webmaster. |
Here is a step-by-step agenda that people will buy:
Step 1) All porn sites in united states will be obligated to tag their pages with a special code Step 2) People will happily buy into the 'protect your children act' crap and start blocking all non-usa internet sites (whats outside the usa thats of interest anyway, right?) Step 3) The government will start putting out propaganda to create a usa-only internet, with borders and warnings enforced on the isp level that will 1) block all people under 18/21 to go outside of united states internet territory in the first place (or at least indoctrinate parents so that most will comply) 2) only allow 'cooperating' countries (read allies) to be whitelisted under strict conditions Step 4) No longer allow internet traffic from outside the usa (unless they are an ally) coming into the usa, because of terrorist risks. The only thing outside the usa internet borders are terrorist hackers, and they want to kill every computer. Step 5) Start controlling the internet now that its under control (read: seize sites that promote anti-government stuff or question the government) Please note that they already read every email message you sent for a long time. |
Don't mind my typos

Nice conspiracy theory. I really doubt they're thinking that far ahead, but it could happen a little at a time.

Ummm when did anything become mandatory?? Lets not get ahead of ourselves now, things are bad enough with .xxx going live. :2 cents:
|
Personally I think .xxx is a diversion, they will probably 'give in' but come up with an alternative so that 'everyone is happy' - which is.....
mandatory marking |
its all about control :(

never underestimate the closed mindedness of people in the USA. Here, in our STATE level paper, a woman writes in and gets paper "coverage" complaining that she and her daughter are subjected to PORNORAPHY every time they go to a store, gas station or food market. She complains about BARE mid-driffs, (this si the 21 st century and shes complianing about seeing tummies!) she then goes on how all woman with back tatoos and racy mens magazines such as all the FHM/STUFF and so on, need to be fined. ? huh? christ...................
The paper then went on to fucking agree with her that immorality was rampant and we are all in need of having our hand held and brought back to the church. (not in those words but thats what was implied.) The same people are openly beating themselves over anquish of the DaVinci code. so dont kid yourselves. I to was blissfully ignorant in Socal. the rest of the USA isnt our friend. (cept behind closed doors) hypocrites |
'Except behind close doors'.. that makes me think of saudi arabia... oh yeah most americans dont like those /sarcasm
